Nagpur: A woman has charged her husband of torturing her and three-month son by branding (scorching) them with a hot stuff. Shockingly, even after lodging a complaint by her in this regard the Shantinagar police have not initiated action against the truant husband, alleged the woman. The victimized woman further alleged that her husband even tried to end his life by hanging. The cops however said that they probing the allegations.
According to police, the Shantinagar-based Shital got married with Gajanan Kopre, a Murtijapur resident, in 2015. However, after the birth of son, Gajanan and in-laws started harassing her. Gajanan tortured her severely 15 days ago forcing her to leave house and go to her parents’ house. Shital alleged that her husband Gajanan branded her and son with a hot stuff. Gajanan is unemployed and a complaint in this regard was filed by Shital with Shantinagar police seven days ago but cops did not initiate action in the case. But when some social activists reached the police station and raised the issue, the Police Inspector Khade said that they are probing the matter from all angles.
PI clarifies:
The Police Inspector of Shantinagar Police Station Balasaheb Khade has debunked the reports that a woman had lodged a complaint against her husband. The Corporator of the area and an office-bearer are misleading the media. No such woman approached the Shantinagar police nor lodged a complaint. The Independent Corporator and the office-bearer Ajay Dalal are spreading the lies because of some stern action against them. If such a complaint is received by us, we will act on it according to the law, the Police Inspector asserted.
