Nagpur: Tension ran high at Lalganj-Raut Square here when a notorious goon fired a bullet on DB Squad of Shantinagar Police Station on Saturday morning. Fortunately, as the goon was under influence of liquor, the bullet missed the target. No cop or civilian was hurt in the firing. The stunned cops later overpowered the criminal and placed him under arrest.

A pistol, five live cartridges and an empty cartridge have been seized from the accused goon who has been identified as Nitesh Chaudhary. Nitesh, it is learnt, is member of dreaded Sumit Thakur gang. The Sumit Thakur gang and Karim Lala gang are allegedly enemies of each other.

The accused, Nitesh Chaudhary, on Saturday morning enjoyed heavy dose of liquor and under the heady influence, started creating ruckus at Lalganj-Raut Square in Shantinagar area. He was wielding a gun and threatening nearby people. The panicky people immediately alerted Shantinagar police upon which the DB Squad of police station, led by Vijay Kadu, rushed to the spot. As the accused goon spotted cops approaching him, he started shouting loudly. Cops warned him to put the gun down and surrender. But instead of heeding to the warning, the accused Nitesh Chaudhary suddenly fired a bullet at the DB Squad. Fortunately, the heady stuff acted as safety trigger and the goon missed the target. No cop or civilian was injured in the firing. Taken by surprise, the DB Squad members immediately overpowered the goon and brought him to police station. After a dressing down, the accused Nitesh Chaudhary was booked under relevant Sections of the IPC and placed under arrest.

Further investigations are underway.

Nagpur: A team of Crime Branch Unit 4 raided a dance bar in Kotwali area and caught red-handed girls dancing in obscene postures. Apart from the dancing girls, Manager, orchestra artists and nine customers have been booked by the raiding cops. The Friday night swoop created ripples across bars and restaurants in city.

The raiding Crime Branch Unit 4 sleuths reportedly found two young girls dancing in vulgar postures and ‘seducing’ customers. The customers were found hurling currency notes on the girls as ‘rewards.’ Notably, the licence of the orchestra has not been renewed.

Acting on secret inputs, a team of Crime Branch, led by Police Inspector Bharat Kshirsagar, raided the dance bar around 11.55 pm on Friday. In one of the rooms on the first floor of the dance bar, two young girls were found dancing in utterly vulgar way in front of customers. No girl was neither singing nor serving liquor to the customers but their postures were flashy and obnoxious.

The nine customers who were ‘enjoying’ the dance were identified as Vishal Prakash Petkar (32) of Timki, Badal Madhukar Kuradkar (27) of Timki, Sachin Yashwant Gaurkar (36) of Golibar Square, Pranay Omprakash Chandak (33) of Saraswati Apartment, Jagnade Square, Amit Gangaram Limbani (38) of Satnami Nagar, Swapnil Arun Dhok (29) of Soubhagya Nagar, Hudkeshwar, Sanjay Gangadhar Rewatkar (43) of Gandhi Chowk, Sadar and Rakesh Vitthalrao Masurkar (35) of Plot No. 40, Deshpande Layout. The ninth accused has not been identified.

The Manager the dance bar Kishore Natthuji Mandhalkar (45), resident of Nandanvan Slums, was summoned by cops. Mandhalkar produced licence of the bar FL-3/396. He also showed an application for renewal orchestra and ghazal licence submitted to office of Police Commissioner on November 18, 2017. The time limit of the licence was up to December 31, 2015 but it was not renewed thereafter.

The woman staff of Crime Branch interrogated the two bar girls. One of them revealed her address as Vyankatesh Colony, Nandanvan while the other resided in Old Mangalwari, Central Avenue. Cops seized Rs 2200 and Rs 1500 from the girls respectively. The orchestra artists were also booked.

Nagpur: Fear nor shame could stop a drunken neighbour from misbehaving and dragging two year old girl and her mother to his flat within an animal instinct. As if this was not enough, even the police showed indifferent attitude towards this incident when the victims went to lodge a complaint.

According to the report, the woman works in a well known company in MIHAN and resides in Silver Heights in Navnath Society at Manish Nagar with her husband and child, on then outskirts of city. Her husband is a consultant and so often goes on tours. On the fateful day, that is on 19 March just before the afternoon the child was busy playing in front of the flat’s gate. Her mother too was at home as she had opted to work from home and had just gone inside the house to get a glass of water for her. Suddenly the mother who was inside the house heard her child scream and cry. She immediately rushed out of her flat and was shocked to his her neighbour Rajesh Mingle, 45, who is an office bearer of their society in a drunken state was dragging her little daughter towards his flat. The mother quickly ran and tried to free her daughter but this beastly man caught hold of her hand too and allegedly started dragging the screaming mother and child in his flat. Seeing the condition of man, the mother gathered courage and with all her might pushed the drunkard and managed to free her daughter and herself free. It was really unfortunate that nobody was there in the whole building.

She quickly ran towards her flat and locked herself and daughter in inside. When her husband came home she narrated the entire story. The couple kept on thinking what to do and finally on March 21 they went to the Beltrodi police station to file a FIR. Instead of the police official taking the incident seriously and filing FIR against Mingle, he advised the couple to patch up with their neighbour.

On continuous refusal by the couple finally the police station officer immediately called for Mingle. He along with some oldies landed in police station but he flatly denied of any such thing that he had done. The woman continuously kept on pleading to police officials for nearly 8 hours. Finally in the evening at 6 pm the official registered a FIR. But to the utter shock of the couple the police kept on shielding the culprit. At last on 22 March they carried out the preliminary investigation and also called the home the woman from office to register her version. But even after this no action has been taken against the culprit till today

The victim has now decide to approach the police commissioner and demand justice.

Nagpur: A 26-year old man, working as domestic servant, decamped with cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 2.87 lakh in Lakadganj area here on Sunday. The accused locked the woman employer while she was performing puja and then burgled the booty.

The complainant, Parul Pragnesh Thaker (56), resident of Plot No. 128, opposite Swaminarayan School, East Wardhaman Nagar, told police that she was performing puja at her residence on Sunday. Between 12.45 and 1 pm, the accused domestic servant Ajit Kamat (26), native of Bihar, locked the door of puja room from outside and laid his hands on cash Rs 1 lakh and gold ornaments worth Rs 1.87 lakh kept in bedroom cupboard. After the theft, the accused went absconding.

Lakadganj police constable Ajay has booked the accused Ajit Kamat under Sections 341, 381 of the IPC and launched a search to nab him.

Nagpur: In a ghastly road mishap, two men were killed and two others were injured seriously when the car they were travelling in crashed on a road divider on Nagpur-Saoner Highway in the wee hours of Monday.

The deceased have been identified as Amarsingh (30), native of Lucknow (UP) and Mohd Idris. The two seriously injured are Rahul Ashok Mehra (40), resident of D/75, Fourth Bungalow, Andheri West, Mumbai and his friend Hardik Patel.

The men were travelling in Hyundai Creta Car (MH-02/EE 8506) and were going towards Saoner from Nagpur around 0130 hours of Monday. As the car reached near Ashok Vatika Restaurant on the Highway, Amarsingh, who was driving the car, lost control over steering and rammed the road divider with forceful impact. As a result, the four occupants of the car suffered grievous injuries. While Amarsingh and Mohd Idris died on the spot, Rahul Mehra and his friend Hardik Patel were shifted to a hospital where their condition is stated to be serious. On being informed, a team of Koradi police reached the spot and started investigations.

Nagpur: An alert man caught a woman chain-snatcher red-handed while trying to rob a middle aged woman in Dharameth locality on Sunday. The accused woman was later handed over to Sitabuldi police.

A resident of Hazari Pahad, Godavari Rajendra Chaudhary (50), along with her daughter, had come to Dharampeth around 7.30 pm on Sunday to witness Ram Navami Shobhayatra. Later, Godavari and her daughter were standing in line for prasad in front of Ganesh Sagar Restaurant. Taking advantage of rush of crowd, the accused Anju Ashish Khandare (30), resident of Viktubaba Nagar, Takalghat, tried to remove gold chain from Godavari’s neck slyly. However, a man standing nearby, noticed Anju’s act and caught her red-handed. She was later handed over to Sitabuldi police.

Woman PSI Yelkewad booked the accused Anju Khandare under Sections 379, 511 of the IPC and placed her under arrest. Further probe is on.

However, in another incident, a woman was robbed of her gold chain worth Rs 40,000 while witnessing the Shobhayatra near Laxmibhavan Square on the same day. Kamalabai Dhotre, resident of Sanjay Gandhi Nagar, Pandhrabodi, along with her neighbour Archana Rajesh Waghade (38), was witnessing Shobhayatra on Ramnagar-Laxmibhavan Square Road around 7.30 pm. At the same time, an unidentified person removed a gold chain worth Rs 40,000 Godavari was wearing.

Ambazari ASI Yadavrao has registered a case under Section 379 of the IPC and searching for the unidentified chain-snatcher.

Nagpur: A building contractor has been booked by Jaripatka police on the charges of causing death of a labourer negligently.

Construction of a new building is going on opposite Samsung Galaxy Showroom, Kadbi Chowk, Bezonbagh. The deceased Shymrao Mahadeo Harde (41), resident of Plot No. 23, Parvati Nagar, was working at the building as labourer. Around 5.30 pm on Monday, a portion of slab caved in and fell directly on Shyamrao and another labourer. Shymrao was injured grievously and was rushed to Mayo Hospital for treatment. However, doctors pronounced him brought dead. On being informed, a team of Jaripatka police reached the spot and started investigations. The cops prima facie found that the building contractor Kanak Vipin Agrawal, resident of Plot No. 32, Kalpataru Colony, had not taken safety measures and the work was also of inferior quality leading to caving in of slab portion.

Jaripatka PSI Temgire, based on complaint lodged by Harish Mahadeo Harde (33), booked the accused Kanak Agrawal under Section 304(A) of the IPC. Further probe in on.

Nagpur: In yet another cyber crime, two tricksters posing as SBI officials, swindled Rs 6.41 lakh from account of a senior citizen. The two miscreants procured vital details of ATM card from the aged man and withdrew the money through Internet.

A resident of Plot No. 131, Banerjee Layout, Bhagwan Nagar, Ajni, Dilip Baliram Dupare (66), told police that he received a phone call from 918240929186 around 2 pm on Sunday (March 25) and the two callers identified as SBI officials. The two tricksters informed Dilip Dupare that his ATM card has been blocked. With this tricky talk, the two conmen procured vital details of Dupare’s ATM card and bank account. Armed with the details, the two bogus SBI men withdrew Rs 6.41lakh from Dupare’s account through Internet between March 25 and 27 fraudulently.

Ajni PSI B R Jadhav, based on Dupare’s complaint, registered a case under Sections 419, 420, 34 of the IPC read with Section 66(D) of Information and Technology Act against the two accused and launched a search to apprehend them.

Nagpur: A 7-year old boy went missing while playing in a club in Khamla area here on Tuesday and could have been abducted. Cops have mounted a search to trace the kid.

A resident of Juni Basti, Khamla, Gauri Omprakash Yadav (35), in her complaint to police, said that her 7-year old son Vansh was playing in Maratha Club, situated near his house, around 11 am on Tuesday. While playing in the club, Vansh left the place without informing anybody and since then went missing. The panicky Gauri searched Vansh at all possible places but could not find him. Finally, she lodged a complaint with Pratap Nagar police in this connection.

Pratap Nagar ASI Gajanan has registered a case under Section 363 of the IPC and mounted a search to trace the kid.

Nagpur: A rashly driven truck killed a woman and injured her brother in Mankapur area here on Wednesday afternoon.

According to reports, the deceased has been identified as Asha Jain. Asha along with her brother Dahsrath Bairade, resident of Mouda, was coming to Nagpur on two-wheeler. As the sister-brother duo reached under Mankapur Flyover, their two-wheeler was rammed by recklessly driven truck (PB-46/M 8907). As a result, Asha reportedly came under the wheels of the truck and was crushed to death. The impact also left her brother Dashrath Bairade seriously injured. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he is reportedly battling for life. After the mishap, the driver of killer truck fled the spot leaving behind his vehicle.

According information, the brother-sister were lying on the road unattended for half an hour. But nobody came forward to help them. Some passersby even were busy in making video of the unfortunate incident.

Nagpur: Ankit Shahu, one of the accused in macabre Kamble double murder case, has been remanded to police custody the second time. Judge S K Kulkarni remanded the accused to police custody till March 31, 2018, during a hearing held on Wednesday.

Government Pleader Nitin Telgote, Assistant Government Pleader Prashant Sakhre and assisting Adv Sameer Sonavane represented the State.

Ankit Shahu was arrested for his involvement in the murder of Usha Kamble and her one and a half year old granddaughter Rashi, mother and daughter respectively of Nagpur Today’s senior crime reporter Ravikant Kamble.

Earlier cops had arrested Ganesh Shahu, his wife Gudiya and a minor boy in the case. Ganesh owns a grocery shop in Pawansut Nagar, who had brutally killed Usha Kamble and Rashi by slitting their throats with a tin plate of an oil can. Ganesh had murdered Usha and Rashi on the first floor of his house. In a bid to destroy the evidence, Ganesh along with other accused had packed the bodies in gunny bags and dumped them under a culvert near Durga Layout, behind Vihirgaon village on Umred road.

The Kamble duo was earlier reported missing, but later their bodies were found in the nullah. Ganesh Shahu, in his statement, has admitted to have committed the crime. In his statement Ganesh said that Usha had demanded Rs 7000 from him and allegedly abused him in front of customers in his grocery shop. He then asked Usha to come to his house above the shop on the pretext of giving her money. After an argument, he along with other accused brutally killed Usha and Rashi.

An offence under sections 302, 364, 201, 34 of Indian Penal Code, read with Sections 2,3 and 5 of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, was registered against the accused.

Nagpur: A 17-year old girl was raped in her own house in Dhantoli area here on Wednesday morning. The accused rapist first threatened to kill her and then exploited the girl sexually. The accused has reportedly been arrested.

A resident of Takiya, Dhantoli, the teenage girl was alone in her house on Wednesday. Taking advantage of the situation, the accused Jai Sheetalprasad Shahu (22), resident of same area, entered the girl’s house forcibly around 11.45 am and locked the door from inside. When the helpless girl protested, the accused Jai Shahu threatened to kill her and then raped her.

Dhantoli Woman PSI P Wagh, based on the complaint of the rape survivor, booked the accused Jai Shahu under Sections 452, 376, 506(B) of the IPC read with Section 4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act and reportedly arrested him.

Nagpur: Two Pakistani citizens of Indian origin were booked by Jaripatka police for staying in India with lapsed visas. The two accused, husband-wife duo, also tried to cheat Passport Officer and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) by submitting forged documents for visa extension.

The accused have been identified as Vikramdas Bhajandas Panchwani and Jaywanti Vikramdas Panchwani, residents of Plot No. 48, Rupam Society, Nara Road, coming under Jaripatka police jurisdiction. The accused couple was staying at the said address between February 28, 2017 and March 26, 2018. The husband-wife duo, despite knowing that their visas lapsed, was staying in India illegally. Moreover, for extension of the lapsed visas, the two accused forged documents and submitted them to Passport Officer and DCP (Special Branch) and thus tried to cheat the authorities.

Jaripatka police constable Lakhan Kanoujiya has booked the accused Vikramdas Bhajandas Panchwani and Jaywanti Vikramdas Panchwani under Sections 420, 468, 471, 34 of the IPC read with Section 14(A) of the Foreigners Act 1946. Further probe is underway. The accused could be deported to Pakistan for illegally staying in the country.

Nagpur: A young man was duped to the tune of Rs 7.70 lakh by a ‘Hungary’ based trading company. Most probably the company is fictitious one operated by Indian tricksters.

The victim, Nishant Pandurang Jangre (32), resident of Plot No. 42, Adhyapak Nagar, Manewada Road, told Hudkeshwar police that he was scanning Google for products search for business purpose. During the search, he noticed details of a Hungary company and came to know that the company deals in used cooking oil. He thus contacted the ‘authorised official’ of the Hanugarian company named Gabbar Jabor on phone 32465777974 and showed his readiness for purchasing the used cooking oil. Thereafter, the accused Gabbar Jabor sent agreement documents and asked Nishant to sign them.

The accused also told Nishant to deposit the agreed money in a Hungary-based bank account. But since no money could be deposited in the Hungarian bank, the accused told Nishant to deposit Rs 7.70 lakh in Delhi-based State Bank of Mysore account 64195303864 in the name of Lal Thagoon. Later, the accused sent product documents to Nishant which turned out to be bogus ones. Nishant soon realised that he has been cheated and demanded his money back from the accused Gabbar Jabor. The accused flatly refused to do so. Hence Nishant lodged a complaint with Director General of Foreign Trade but got no response. Finally, he registered a case with Hudkeshwar police in this connection. The cheating took place between June 2016 and August 2016.

Hudkeshwar PSI Dharmejwar has registered an offence under Section 420 of the IPC and searching for the accused.

Nagpur: Suspecting her character, a man strangled his wife to death and later surrendered to police. The brutal murder took place in MIDC-Bori police jurisdiction in the wee hours of Thursday.

The accused has been identified as Ramkrishna Davde (35) and the deceased is Mrunali Davde. The both were working labourers. The couple has three children.

According to reports, the accused Ramkrishna suspected Mrunali, who used to work in an MIDC company, having an affair with a man. This suspicion triggered frequent brawls between the couple.On Wednesday night too, Ramkrishna picked up a quarrel with Mrunali. The fracas continued till 4 am. The wordy duel took a nasty turn when Ramkrishna caught hold of Mrunali and flung her on floor. He then strangled her to death. After eliminating Mrunali, Ramkrishna woke up their three kids and took them to his mother. After handing over the kids, Ramkrishna straightaway went to MIDC-Bori Police Station and surrendered himself after informing cops about the murder. Police took him to his house and found Mrunali lying dead. Her body was sent to Government Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.

The accused Ramkrishna Davde was booked under Section 302 of the IPC and placed under arrest.

DCP Bharne raids Wardha-Road based Dhabas serving and selling liquor illegally

Nagpur: After smashing gambling dens with heavy hand in Zone 4, the firebrand DCP Nilesh Bharne has now brought liquor serving and selling Dhabas under his radar. The DCP along with squad raided four reputed Dhabas situated on Wardha Road and exposed a liquor racket being operated by these roadside eateries in the cover of serving food and snacks. The raid in Beltarodi police jurisdiction created ripples.

The owners and employees of the raided Dhabas have been booked under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and Maharashtra Prohibition Act.

A number of family restaurants and Dhabha dot the Wardha Road. The DCP in the past few days was receiving secret inputs that the Dhabas were serving and selling country and foreign made liquor to customers on demand. The top cop first deployed policemen in plainclothes to keep a watch on the nefarious activities. After confirmation, the DCP Nilesh Bharne and his team swooped on ‘Shere Punjab Family Dhaba and Restaurant’ at Parsodi run by Sarabjitsingh Devendrasingh Kala (24) and Manjitsingh Dayalsingh Kala (41), the Khapri Naka-based ‘Family Restaurant and Dhaba’ owned by Bhupendrasingh Manjitsingh, the much talked ‘Mahesh Family Dhaba and Restaurant’ operated by Narasimharao alias Anna Chachaya Vodlamodi (44) also in Khapri and Chinchbhavan-based ‘Mejwani Dhaba’ owned by Nitin Manohar Gaekwad.

The biggest stock of liquor was found stored at ‘Mahesh Family Restaurant and Dhaba’ and ‘Mejwani Dhaba.’ Apart from the huge stocks, 17 bottles of liquor and 15 bottles were found at ‘Shere Punjab’ and ‘Family Restaurant and Dhaba’ respectively. The liquor bottles were found stored in plastic cans and gunny bags. Five accused persons were arrested on the spot and liquor worth Rs 20,000 was seized.

The other members of police squad apart from DCP Bharne include PI Talware, PSI Sandeep Agarkar, and other staff Vikas Deshmukh, Avinash Thakre, Randhir Dixit, Gopal Deshmukh, Prashant Sonulkar, Rajendra Nagpure, and others.

Nagpur: The murders of Rashi and her grand mother Usha Kamble jolted the city a few weeks back. Now, another shocking information has come to the fore in the case. Police are now suspecting that the dual murders may have been a case of human sacrifice. The police have got evidence supporting the theory. Even though the senior police officials refused to comment on this, reliable sources informed that the police have seized Rashi’s blood soaked clothes, a red cloth used for performing puja, haldi, kumkum and other materials used in religious rituals.

This discovery has given altogether different direction to the investigation. Rashi Raviknat Kamble and Usha Sewakdas Kamble (54) were murdered in cold blood on February 17. The police had arrested Ganesh Shahu his wife Gudiya and their minor relative in this regard. A month later, Ankit was also arrested. Ankit is under police cus-tody currently, while the other accused are under judicial custody.

The police seized many articles relat-ed to the murder from the accused’s home. However, the police had not got gold ornaments of Usha Kamble. Assistant commis-sioner of police Kishor Supare who was earlier heading the investigation had claimed that there were only 3 accused in the case. However, following his attitude towards the case, com-missioner of police Dr K Vynakatesham handed over the investigation assistant commissioner of police Rairatna Bansod. Nagpur: Two friends were attacked with a knife and injured seriously by a ‘insane’ man in Manish Nagar here on Wednesday. The motive behind the crazy man assaulting the two friends could not be ascertained. Cops are searching the accused.

The complainant, Vivek Ganesh Jondhale (42), resident of Plot No. 128, Jaihind Society No. 2, Shyam Nagar told Beltarodi police that he and his friend Pravin Mina went to enjoy ‘Gupchup” (Panipuri) in an auto around 10 am on Wednesday. Midway, Vivek received a phone call from his wife who informed him that a knife-wielding man has come their house. Taken aback by the information, Vivek and his friend immediately asked the auto driver to take them to home. As the auto reached near ‘Ruchkar Hotel’ in Manish Nagar around 10.30 am, they spotted a man named Sachin Mandelwar standing there. Vivek asked him as to why he went to his house wielding knife. Enraged by the poser, the accused Sachin Mandelwar attacked Vivek and his friend Pravin with the knife. Vivek received deep wound on his forehead and Pravin suffered injuries on shoulders. The profusely bleeding Vivek and Pravin were taken to a hospital and treated for stab injuries. The motive behind the accused Sachin Mandelwar roaming with a knife and attacking the two friends could not be ascertained immediately.

Beltarodi police constable Suresh Shejav has booked the accused Sachin Mandelwar under Section 326 of the IPC and searching for him.

Nagpur: A police constable deployed in State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) in city was duped to the tune of Rs 6 lakh by father-son duo who posed as civil contractor and civil engineer respectively.

A resident of Qtr No. 135/A, SRPF Group No. 4, the complainant is Govind Praful Mandal (42). Govind is police constable in SRPF. In his complaint to MIDC police, Govind said he negotiated an agreement for construction of his house with the accused duo Sahebrao Genduji Jharpade and Ravi Sahebrao Jharpade, both residents of Matoshri Nagar, Ugle Layout, Wanadongri. Both the accused won the trust of Govind by posing as civil contractor and civil engineer respectively and agreed to do his house work. In return, accused father-son duo took Rs 6 lakh from Govind and later went absconding.

MIDC API Dehankar, based on the complaint of Govind Mandal, booked the accused duo Sahebrao Genduji Jharpade and Ravi Sahebrao Jharpade under Sections 417, 418, 420 of the IPC and launched a search to apprehend them.

Nagpur: A gambling den, being operated under the guise of sports centre, was raided by Ganeshpeth police on Thursday. Acting on inputs, cops swooped on branch office of Vishwanath Bahuddeshiya Krida Mandal behind Fire Brigade office at Ganjipeth Chowk and rounded up 23 persons red-handed while gambling on playing cards by using plastic tokens.

Cops have seized cash, 21 cellphones, ten vehicles, playing cards, DVR box, LEDTV, set top box and other material collectively worth over Rs 4.08 lakh.

The rounded up accused have been identified as Sanjay Dnyaneshwar Chapre (45), Dinesh Balaji Raut (48), Salim Ansari Abdul Gani (42), Salim Shaikh Mohammad Suleman (35), Abdul Mukin Abdul Hafeez Shaikh (38), Shabbir Azgar Khan (51), Bhojraj Purshottam Bangde (51), Arvind Bhimsingh Bisen (51), Parvez Ahmad Akeel Ahmad (29), Kadir Pathan Pervez Pathan (50), Raju Ratanlal Jain-Sethia (52), Radheshyam Jiyaram Parsekar (54), Dnyaneshwar Natthuji Shendurkar (54), Guddu Narayan Molapuri (48), Niyazuddin Sharfuddin (34), Raju Laxman Shivrekar (57), Shaikh Rasool Shaikh Majeed (65), Manish Manikrao Shende (34), Jaisingh Goverdhan Sable (35), Moinuddin Ansari Jaan Mohammad (47), Rajesh Vasantrao Nimje (37), Narendra Gulab Puri (52) and Vasanta Marotrao Khakre (52).

Cops have registered an offence under Section 4 and 5 of the Maharashtra Gambling Act against the accused.

On Monday also, Crime Branch had raided a gambling den at Rameshwari area in limits of Ajni Police Station and arrested 26 gamblers including former Mayor and owner of the den — Pandurang Marotrao Hiwarkar (67), a resident of Plot No 1434, Parvati Nagar. Police had seized valuables and cash collectively worth Rs 1.7 lakh from the den.
