Nagpur: A drug peddler, who jumped parole and went absconding 12 years ago, was nabbed by Detection Squad of Jaripatka police and sent to jail.

The accused Balu Babulal Ajit (41), resident of Kabir Nagar, Plot No. 204, Jaripatka, was arrested under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and was lodged in Nagpur Central Prison from May 15, 2007 as hearing in the case was going in Sessions Court. However, the accused applied for parole and was subsequently released for seven days on June 15, 2007. The accused Balu Ajit was supposed to return to jail on June 23, 2007 but he jumped the parole and went absconding since then.

A team Detection Squad of Jariptaka police was on the trail of the absconding drug peddler but he managed to dodge cops for years. Following painstaking investigations and digging information, cops succeeded in rounding up the wanted accused. He was produced before Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court which sent him to jail.

The arrest was made by Senior PI D D Landge, PSI V B Pawar, constables Deepak Bandane, Kanoujiya, Gajendra Singh Thakur, Bandu Kalambe, sepoys Laxman Chavre, Pralesh Kapse under the guidance of DCP Zone 5 and ACP.

Nagpur: A 34-year-old woman working as a sales executive with a renowned real estate company of the city has accused manager of the firm of sexually exploiting her between September 20, 2018 and February 25, 2019.

Preying on the helpless females co-workers, accused Chandrakant Balaram Ghodeswar (36), a resident of Plot. No. A 401, Hill-top Society, Wadi has victimised several girls working in the firm, the survivor alleged, adding owing to social stigma, none of the victim girls have come forward come to narrate their ordeal.

According to the rape survivor, it all started in 2018 when she joined Sachidanand Realities Company Private Limited, Trimurti Nagar as a sales executive. Ghodeswar, who still works as a Royal Manager with the firm proposed her, before luring her with the promise of salary hike and promotions. However, when the survivor refused to entertain him, Ghodeswar took her to a private resort on the pretext of office meeting and raped her after slipping sedatives in her drinks and captured the entire heinous incident in his camera, the victim alleged.

Ghodeswar then threatened her to make the video clip public if she disclosed the incident to anyone. At the same time he promised that he would marry her. As a result, she kept mum while Ghodeswar continued exploiting her on the regular basis.

However, by the end of February this year, Ghodeswar started avoiding her messages on phones and receiving her calls. Sensing something amiss, when the survivor approached his Wadi based house, the accused reportedly refused to meet her. Following which, she went to Jaripatka police and filed a complaint.

On the basis of the complaint, Jaripatka police have registered offences against Ghodeswar under sections 328, 376 (2), (K) of the Indian Penal Code and started investigations. It is reported that Ghodeswar is currently in Thailand on an official visit.

Nagpur: Acting on a tip-off, Lakadganj Senior Police Inspector B V Pidurkar and his team raided Element Lounge Bar and Restaurant on Sunday night and found two bookies accepting bets on an IPL match being played between Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals. The two bookies were booked and placed under arrest.

The raiding cops found the accused bookies Giriraj Liladhar Jhavar (35), resident of Plot No. 304, Radhakrishna Apartment, Wardhaman Nagar, and Madhusudan Kisan Agrawal (31), resident of Santra Market, Marwadi Chawl, behind R S Hotel, Ganeshpeth, sitting in Element Lounge Bar and Restaurant and accepting bets on the IPL match being played between Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals on mobile phones.

Cops seized two mobile phones, cash Rs 17,640 and other gambling material collectively worth Rs 49,660 and booked the two accused bookies under Sections 4, 5 of Maharashtra Gambling (Prevention) Act. Both the bookies have been placed under arrest.

The raid action was carried out by Senior PI Pidurkar, PSI S V Raut, ASI Ravi Rathod, constables Prakash Sidam, Ajay Bais, Vijay Hatkar, Ishwar Poddar, NPCs Ram Yadav, Vasudeo Jaipurkar, sepoys Firoze Khan, Bhushan Zade and Mangesh Lohi under the guidance of DCP Zone 3 Rahul Maknikar.

Nagpur: A dreaded goon, involved a series of serious crimes, was nabbed by sleuths of Crime Branch Unit 4 in Ajni area on Sunday. A country-made pistol and a bullet have been seized from the arrested criminal. The goon was externed but still managed to enter city and could have planning a major crime.

The Crime Branch Unit 4 on Sunday received secret information that the hardcore criminal named Vivek Bhimrao Dofe (28), resident of Plot No. 225, Dhadiwal Layout, Jogi Nagar in Ajni police jurisdiction, was in possession of a country-made pistol and a live cartridge. Acting swiftly, a team of Crime Branch Unit 4 sleuths raided the house of the criminal and detained him for questioning. During the grilling, the accused told cops that he has hidden the firearm and bullet under a heap of garbage some distance away from his residence. The cops, subsequently, dug up the garbage heap and seized the pistol and live cartridge.

The notorious criminal was involved in 15 crimes of serious nature registered with Ajni police. Keeping in mind the criminal background of the accused and the threat he posed to citizens, the goon was externed from city limits. But still he managed to sneak into city with intention to commit a crime.

An offence under Section 3/25 of Arms Act was registered with Ajni police against the goon Vivek Dofe and he was put behind bars. Cops are investigating from where the goon brought the firearm and bullet and what was his motive.

The arrest was made under the guidance of DCP (Detection) Nilesh Bharne and ACP Sudhir Nandanwar by PI Satyavan Mane, API Kiran Chaugule, PSIs Purshottam Mohekar, Suresh Hawre, ASI Ramesh Umathe, constables Battulal Pandey, Ajay Rode, Satish Meshram, Devendra Chavan, Sudhakar Dhandar, Nrusinha Damahe, NPCs Ravindra Raut, Prashant Kodape, Satish Nimje, Baban Raut, Ashish Kshirsagar, Sachin Tumsare, Avinash Thakur, Govind Deshmukh, drivers Dnyaneshwar Tandulkar, Deepak Zade and Rajendra Tiwari.

Nagpur: Pachpaoli police seized a Mahindra truck carrying 1500 kg of beef from Khante Nagar in the wee hours of Monday. Cops have also rescued 13 bovines being taken for slaughter and arrested four people in this connection.

Acting on a tip-off, the Pachpaoli police raided Khante Nagar based slaughter house around 2.30 am on Monday. Besides truck, police seized 1500 kg of beef and rescued 13 bovines collectively worth Rs 10.1 lakh during the raid.

Accused Mohammad Shahid Raza, son of Siddhiq Husain (23), resident of Motha Tajbagh, Sheikh Jabir (39) resident of Chirag Ali Square, Teka, Aalim Khan Gaffur Khan (40) resident of Shiv Nagar, Flat. No. 34, Manjri, Yashodhara Nagar and Mohammad Shafi Haji Mohammad Shabbir (36) resident of Azad Nagar, Teka have been booked under the relevant Sections of Maharashtra Animals Preservation Act and Food Safety Act and placed under arrest.

The raid was supervised under the guidance of DCP Harsh Poddar, ACP Walchand Munde, PI Crime Sanjay Jadhav and Senior PI Ashok Meshram. API S S Suroshe, PSI P R Ingle, Constable Chintaman Dakhole, Vilas Chavhan, Ravishankar Mishra, Vijay Lande, Sunil Wankhede, Sachin Sonwane carried out the action.

Nagpur: In a curious turn, a team of Jaripatka police searching missing persons stumbled upon a cricket bookie who was found accepting bets on IPL matches at his residence. The bookie was booked and put behind bars.

On Saturday, a team of Jaripatka cops was tracing the missing persons in Hudco Colony, Ahuja Nagar locality. They saw a group of people standing near NIT ground. Cops showed photograph of a missing person to the group and enquired about him. However, one of the persons in the group, instead of giving information about the missing person informed the cops that a person named Dilip Khemchand Premchandani was busy in accepting bets on IPL T20 matches by watching live telecast at his residence at Plot No. 570, Ahuja Nagar Lane No. 3. The police team immediately informed about it to Senior Police Inspector Parag Pote and on his direction raided the house around 5.45 pm.

The raiding cops found the bookie Dilip Premchandani watching live telecast of IPL match being played between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians and accepting bets. Subsequently, cops detained the accused bookie and seized 5 mobile phones, one Onida TV, set top box, and other gambling material collectively worth over Rs 21,000.

The accused Dilip Premchandani was booked under Sections 4, 5 of Maharashtra Gambling (Prevention) Act and placed under arrest.

The action was taken by PSI Atul Dake, constables Lakahn Kanaujiya, Pradeep Bhaise, Harichandra Bhat, sepoys Pravin Marape, Narayan, woman sepoy Kavita under the guidance of DCP Zone 5 Harsh Poddar, Senior PI Parag Pote and Second Police Inspector Dilip Landge.

Nagpur: Acting tough against notorious criminals, Wasi police have externed two goons from city limits for one year and six months respectively.

A resident of Chandramani Square, Ambedkar Nagar, Control Wadi, Pradeep alias Padya Dharmapal Tasre (20) has been banished from city limits for one year. The goon was externed by an order 05/2019 dated March 27, 2019 under Section 56(1)(A)(B) of Maharashtra Police Act. The externment order was served on the criminal on April 1 and he was dropped at uncle Prabhakar Shravan Nitnavre’s village Ashti in Amravati district.

Similarly, another notorious criminal Suresh Ukandrao Maske (42), resident of Ambedkar Nagar, Control Wadi, was externed from city limits for six months under the same provisions of Section 56(1)(A)(B) of Maharashtra Police Act. He was deserted at his maternal uncle Prakash Ramdas Ravde’s village Yashpura, Akot in Akola district.

Nagpur: In yet another deadly mishap, a Zomato delivery boy lost his life after he came under the wheels of a recklessly driven NMC garbage pick up vehicle near Telephone Exchange square on Central Avenue road on Monday morning.

Lakadganj police have registered the case against driver as well as BSNL contractor. This is the third such incident in last few months when a Zomato delivery boy lost his life in road mishap. The deceased has been identified as Prashant Dharmaji Sontakke, 43, resident of IBM Nagar in Gittikhadan.

Prashant has been working as Zomato delivery boy for about 2 years. He was on his way to delivering a food parcel in Chhapru Nagar where his Activa scooter slipped after hitting an uneven surface formed due to excavation works on the stretch. As Prashant fell off his scooter after losing balance he got crushed under the wheels on the garbage vehicle (MH31 EN0744) speeding from behind. The tipper driver was said to be heavily drunk, following which he could not control the vehicle.

Metro rail works along with BSNL’s cable laying works on this stretch have added to the mess on this stretch as the debris is often spread on the road, making it difficult for the two-wheeler riders passing through this stretch.
Prashant was wearing the helmet however his head came under the wheels. He died on the spot.

Prashant was the sole bread winner of his family of a wife and two children – a son aged 10 and a daughter aged 8 years.
After this incident Prashant’s kin have demanded stern action against the erring driver and Kanak Resources Managment, the company engaged in garbage pick up works.

Nagpur: Koradi police busted a sex racket being operated from a posh apartment and arrested a woman, her son and daughter who pushed a woman from Bangladesh into flesh trade.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Koradi police raided Ashoka Residency, Plot No. 102, Arya Nagar and rescued the 26-year old victim woman who hailed from Bangladesh. The accused named Sarfaraz (30), his mother (50) and sister (22) and their 3-4 accomplices brought the victim from Bangladesh on the pretext of a decent job. However, the accused trio detained the woman in a room in their apartment and forced her into prostitution. The accused took money from various clients who in turn exploited the woman sexually several times.

Koradi ASI Pramod, based on a complaint lodged by the victimised woman, booked the accused under Sections 370, 342, 346, 34, 366(B) of the IPC read with Sections 4, 5, 6 of Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act and placed them under arrest.

Nagpur: In a ghastly incident, a young woman was crushed to death by a rashly driven truck on Nagpur-Amravati Road in Wadi area on Tuesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Pooja Omprakash Tiwari (24), resident of Navneet Nagar.

As per the preliminary information, Pooja was going to her on Honda Activa moped (MH-31/BB 1330) on Nagpur-Amravati Road on Tuesday morning. Suddenly, 12-wheeler truck, coming from behind, rammed Pooja’s Activa in full speed. As a result, Pooja fell on road and got crushed under the rear wheels of the truck. She died on the spot.

On being informed, a team of Wadi police rushed to the spot and started investigation. Body of Pooja was sent to Mayo Hospital for autopsy.

Cops have seized the truck and booked accused driver under relevant Sections of the IPC. Further probe is underway.

Nagpur: Two conmen who were trying to sell half kg fake gold to a gullible person have been arrested by MIDC police.

A team of MIDC police was on patrol duty when they received information that two suspicious persons were trying to cheat a man by selling him half kg fake gold at Rs 2 lakh. The two conmen won the confidence of the man and provoking him to purchase the gold at such a low cost. Acting swiftly, the team of cops reached the spot and trapped the two miscreants. The two accused have been identified as Shyam Ramesh Solanki (26) and Lalu Shankar Solanki (28), both residents of Devikant Nagar, Pipla Phata.

On the basis of complaint lodged by the unidentified ‘customer,’ MIDC cops have booked the two conmen under relevant sections of IPC and put them behind bars after procuring their police remand. Further probe is underway.

The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court on Tuesday granted gangster turned politician Arun Gawli a 28-day furlough from April 30, a day after Mumbai votes in the Lok Sabha elections.

The state government had objected to Gawli’s furlough, saying he should not be released since Lok Sabha polls were under way and he could breach the model code of conduct.

A division bench of Justice ZA Haq and Justice Vinay Joshi directed that the furlough period begin from April 30.

Gawli’s lawyer Rajendra Daga told court that his client had not violated any of the conditions when he was released on parole on six occasions earlier and had surrendered on the dates fixed.

Gawli, lodged in the Nagpur central jail since 2016, is serving life sentence for the 2007 killing of Shiv Sena corporator Kamalakar Jamsandekar. He was convicted in 2012.

Gawli, 63, had also forayed into politics and floated a party Akhil Bharatiya Sena. He was elected as an MLA in 2004.

Nagpur: In an audacious act, a group of 10-15 persons attacked a man, his wife, and three other relatives and tried to kill them over a dispute in Kalamna area here on Tuesday.

The trouble started as the complainant Shivshankar Rameshwar Pandey (55), resident of Plot No. 108, Vaishnav Devi Nagar, was milking his cow at his residence around 6 pm on Tuesday. At the same time, he saw a boy stealing his bicycle. Acting swiftly, Shivshankar caught the boy and took him to his mother’s ‘Pani Puri’ shop behind Shivshakti Bar Square and told her that her son was stealing his bicycle. But instead of scolding her son, the mother picked up a quarrel with Shivshankar and two men also thrashed him. After a while, Shivshankar returned to his house. Thereafter, the main accused named Nageshwar Gajanan Bondre, resident of Tukaram Wadi, along with his 10-15 accomplices arrived at Shivshankar’s house and started attacking him, his wife, niece, elder brother Brijnandan Pandey (64) and brother-in-law Piyushkant Pandey (40) with lathis. The accused hit lathis on their heads and tried to kill them.

Kalamna PSI Thakre, based on the complaint of Shivshankar Pandey, booked all the accused under Sections 143, 147, 148, 149, 452, 427, 307 of the IPC and launched an in-depth investigation into the matter. No accused has been arrested so far.

Nagpur: In a filmy style drama, two masked men kidnapped a 16-year old girl but the girl rescued herself by jumping from the motorcycle of the abductors. The incident took place in Jaripatka police jurisdiction. Cops have mounted a hunt to nab the kidnappers.

According to the 16-year old girl, she was returning home walking around 7 pm on Monday. Midway near Nag Mandir, Sugat Nagar in Jaripatka, two masked men accosted her and forced her to sit on their bike. As the kidnappers were taking her towards Samata Nagar, the girl gathered nerve and decided to rescue herself from their clutches. She bit on the hand of the bike rider hard and then jumped from the moving bike. She returned home running and narrated the incident to her relatives. Later a case was registered with Jaripatka police in this regard.

Police constable Kamalkant, acting on the complaint of the girl, booked the two unidentified men under Sections 363, 34 of the IPC. Cops have mounted a hunt to nab the two kidnappers.

Nagpur: A liquor party turned into a bloody brawl as one the man attacked the host with a beer bottle and left him seriously injured in MIDC area here in the wee hours of Sunday.

A resident of Plot No. 33, Vrundavan Colony, Netaji Society, Katol Road, Amit Anand Machhle (37) hosted a liquor party at Neon Shiv Bar and Restaurant on Sunday night. Amit and his 18-22 friends were enjoying the party. But a brawl erupted between Amit and accused Nilesh Mourya (35) over an issue. In a fit of rage, Nilesh attacked Amit with a beer bottle and hit him on his ear. Nilesh also thrashed Amit with fists and legs and injured him seriously.

MIDC PSI Wankhede, based on Amit’s complaint, booked the accused Nilesh Mourya under Section 326 of the IPC and probing the matter further.

Nagpur: A team of SNDL on Wednesday faced the wrath of a defaulter consumer in Hudkeshwar area. One of the members of the team was attacked and bashed up severely by the furious consumer as his power connection was snapped for defaulting bill payment.

The accused consumer has been identified as Sanjay Madhukar Mahakalkar (Consumer No. 410022019949). The SNDL had served Sanjay a notice for clearing dues of Rs 14,500 but he snubbed the notice. Finally, a team of SNDL on Wednesday morning disconnected power supply to Sanjay Mahakalakar as well as other defaulters.When Sanjay came to know about it, he and three other people chased the SNDL team and caught one of the technicians. They took the technician near to their residences and asked him to restore power supply. But when he refused to do so, the accused Sanjay Mahakalkar attacked him with rod and inflicted serious injuries.

SNDL has registered a case with Hudkeshwar police in this connection.

Nagpur: An auto driver and rag-picker were injured as a rashly driven car rammed into them near Shankar Anaj Bhandar, Jaripatka Main Road on Wednesday morning.

According to police sources, the 55-year-old auto driver, Sanjay Maroti Gaikwad and the rag-picker Rajesh Patil were standing near Shankar Anaj Bhandar, Jaripatka Main Road on Wednesday morning. At around 7.30 am, a recklessly driven Verna car (MP/09/CZ/3827) dashed the duo from behind, before crashing into nearby trucks. Gaikwad and Patil, who sustained head and back injuries due to the impact were then rushed to Mayo Hospital.

Jaripatka cops have booked the accused car driver Amol Pramod Bagde (27), a resident of Plot. No. 136, Nav Buddhavihar, Bhim Chowk, under Sections 279, 336, 338 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and placed him under arrest. Further probe is underway.

Nagpur: Shantinagar police have arrested two persons and seized 80 litres of illegally brewed country liquor from their possession.

A team of Shantinagar police on patrol duty received information that the accused namely Suresh Pundlikrao Shendre (38), resident of Bhivenkhori, Gittikhadan and Dheeraj Munna Ungalwar (26), also resident of Bhivsenkhori, were slyly transporting the 80 litres of illegally brewed mahua flower liquor on an Activa moped (MH-31/FJ 24`4) at Lalganj Zade Square. The liquor worth Rs 8000 was stuffed in two rubber tubes. Cops have seized the liquor and the Activa moped worth Rs 45,000.

The two accused were booked under Section 65(A) of Maharashtra Prohibition Act and placed under arrest.

The arrest was made by ASI Ghanshyam Tiwari, NPCs Ashwin, Prakash, sepoys Wasim and Vivek under the guidance of DCP Zone 3 Rajtilak Roushan, ACP Rajratna Bansod and Senior PI Sanjay Jadhav.

Nagpur: Koradi police have booked a youth after the enraged neigbours of Rajat Heights -1 housing society on Koradi road complained to the cops that he has been torturing his mother at his apartment. The youth is said to be mentally disturbed and has habit of drinking.

Koradi Police station Inspector Ganesh Thakre informed that they had received the written complaint about the youth who has been inflicting his mother with serious actions. As per the letter, the youth’s gesture towards his mother was highly objectionable. He was also assaulting his mother after getting drunk, the letter added.

The letter signed by Anubhav Shiksharthi, president of Rajat Heights flat owners co-operative housing society, alleged that the heinous acts of the youth is derogatory to their society and could leave a bad impact on their kids.

Talking to Nagpur Today, Thakre said that they had arrested the youth under section 85 (provision). He also said that the youth is mentally unstable and he was reportedly assaulting his mother in drunken state. He was produced in the court where his MCR was sought but he was released after one of his relatives procured his bail, Thakre told NT.

Nagpur: A notorious criminal was murdered brutally by 3-4 unidentified persons probably over old enmity near busy Baidyanath Square on Wednesday night.

A resident of Rambagh, near Maitri Buddha Vihar, the deceased has been identified as Badal Raju Gajbhiye(29). According to police sources, Badal was returning home after enjoying ‘Pani Puri’ near Baidyanath Square around 10.30 pm on Wednesday. Midway behind Kamgar Bhavan, 3-4 unidentified persons accosted Badal and blinded him by throwing chilli powder on his eyes. Later they attacked him with sharp-edged weapons and stones and killed him on the spot.

Imambada API Sayyed, based on a complaint lodged by Akash Raju Gajbhiye, younger brother of deceased, booked the unidentified assailants under Sections 302, 34 of the IPC and launched a search to nab them.

According sources, the deceased Badal’s father Raju Panjabrao Gajbhiye was also murdered in October 2015. Badal’s rivals had come to eliminate him but also attacked his father killing him on the spot. In April 2016, Badal and his accomplices, including three minors, had attempted to kill Saurav with sharp-edged weapons on Chunabhatti Road. Badal’s father was allegedly murdered by Sanjay Alone, his brother Manoj and others. Badal too was injured in the attack.
