Nagpur: Cash worth Rs 96 lakh was seized in two separate cases here on Monday ahead of the October 21 polling in Maharashtra, officials said. The seizures were made from two cars by joint Static and Surveillance Teams (SSTs) of the Nagpur police and Election Commission near the railway station here and Pachpaoli over-bridge, they said.

In the first case, SST seized Rs 71 lakh in cash from a Swift Dzire car when it was passing through the Pachpaoli over-bridge at 6 pm, an official said. The police detained the car driver, Muneshwar Fulzele, and handed over the cash to the Income Tax department for further investigation, said Inspector Ashok Meshram of the Pachpaoli police station.

In the second case, Rs 25 lakh was seized from a Datsun Go car by SST near Nagpur railway station at 6.30 pm. Jagvendrasingh Rajput, Inspector of the Sitabuldi police station, said the driver, Suresh Baraskar, was detained and the cash handed over to the I-T department.

SSTs have been deployed across the city to check vehicles and keep an eye on movement of unaccounted cash ahead of the assembly elections.

Property feud: Man tries to kill brother by pushing him from first floor in Mankapur

Nagpur: Property dispute in a family turned bloody as a man tried to kill his younger brother by pushing him down from gallery of first floor of their house in Mankapur area here on Monday night. The accused also thrashed his 70-year old mother over property feud.

According to complainant, Vaishali Anand Bhange (39), resident of Plot No. 83, Bapunagar, Mankapur, a property dispute is running between her brother-in-law Anil Manikrao Bhange (48) and accused Sandeep Manikrao Bhange (52), resident of Plot No. 81, Bodad Layout, Sainagar. Both Anil and Sandeep are real brothers. On Monday around 9.30 pm, the accused Sandeep Bhange came to the complainant Vaishali’s house and picked up quarrel with his mother Yamuna Bhange over property. As Sandeep started thrashing his 70-year old mother, Vaishali phoned Anil Bhange and asked him to come to house. As Anil arrived, an argument erupted between him and the accused Sandeep. Angry over his elder brother’s behaviour, Anil went to first floor of the house for calling police. As he was calling police by standing near gallery of the first floor, the accused Sandeep pushed him hard with the intention of killing his younger brother. As a result, Anil came crashing down on the ground and suffered critical injuries. He was immediately taken to nearby Kunal Hospital where he is reportedly in serious condition.

Mankapur Assistant PSI Dharmadas Savarkar, based on Vaishali Bhange’s complaint, booked accused Sandeep Bhange under Section 307 of the IPC and started probe. No arrest has been made so far.

Nagpur: Two boys, aged 12 and 14, have gone missing from MIDC and Hudkeshwar police areas respectively and could have been kidnapped by unidentified persons.

A resident of Prem Nagar, near Bhim Nagar in MIDC area, Kavita Rohit Yadav (40) told police that her 12-year old son Sajan was playing at house around 12 noon on Saturday, October 13. However, while playing, Sajan left home and went missing since then. His mother searched him frantically at all possible places but in vain. Finally, a case was registered with MIDC police in this connection.

Police constable Nemade, as per Supreme Court directives that if a minor girl or boy goes missing then the case should be treated that of kidnapping, registered an offence under Section 363 of the IPC and searching for 12-year old Sajan.

Similarly, 14-year old Himanshu, son of Gurusingh Shankarsingh Thakur (52), resident of Plot No. 190, Ladikar Layout, Hudkeshwar, left home between 10.30 am and 11 am on Wednesday, October 9, without informing anybody. Since then he has been missing. A search for him has proved futile.

Nagpur: Mystery shrouded death of a 50-year old man who was found lying dead at Sonegaon Airport premises in city on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Ashok Wasnik (50), resident of Khamla in city. Wasnik was found lying dead at RG1, Sonegaon Airport on Monday. On being informed, a team of Sonegaon police reached the spot and sent body of Wasnik to GMCH for autopsy.

Police constable Sunil, based on information provided by Sarjerao Chandrabhan Vayre (45), resident of Shivangaon, has registered a case of accidental death and launched an in-depth probe into the matter.

Nagpur: In a major crackdown, the special squad of DCP Zone 5 Nilotpal on Monday raided an illegal slaughter house at Kolsa Tal in Old Kamptee and seized a whopping 9 tonnes of beef worth Rs 13.50 lakh. Cops have also seized a truck and other materials collectively worth Rs 16.50 lakh. Two accused have been arrested after a short chase but four others managed to escape.

The special squad comprising API Prashant D Annachatre, Constable Vinod Sontakke, Suraj Bharati, Chetan Jadhav, Prabhakar Mankar, Ravindra Raut, Yogesh Tatod received a tip off that massive quantity of beef is being loaded in a truck at Kolsa Tal based illegal slaughter house.

Acting on the tip-off, the special squad raided the place. On seeing the cops, the accused numbering 5-6 tried to escape. Cops chased them and succeeded in arresting two of the accused. The raiding cops found that the beef is being loaded in a truck (MH/28/B/8671). The beef weighing 9 tonnes worth Rs 13.50 lakh was seized and the truck worth Rs 16.50 lakh was also confiscated during the raid.

The two arrested accused have been identified as Abdul Wasi Abdul Aleem (35), a resident of Gram Bawanwada, district Sioni (Madhya Pradesh) and Aankant Devrath Das (34), a resident of Tumdipura, Kamptee.

The action was carried out under the guidance of DCP Zone 5 Nilotpal.

Nagpur: New Kamptee police have arrested a youth for indulging in unnatural sex with an 11-year old girl on Tuesday.

The accused has been identified as Akshay Suresh Borkar (20), resident of Kumbhare Colony.

The minor victim, resident of Samrat Nagar, Kumbhare Colony, was alone at her house on Tuesday as her parents had gone out for some work. Taking advantage of the situation, the accused Akshay Borkar entered the girl’s house and indulged in unnatural sex with her. The girl narrated the incident to her parents when they returned home. The shocked parents immediately registered a case against the accused with New Kamptee police in this connection.

Acting on the complaint, cops booked the accused Akshay Borkar under Section 376(A) of the IPC read with sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and put him behind the bars. Further probe is underway.

Nagpur: Ajni police have rounded up a group of six youth and detained a juvenile boy allegedly for stealing fuel from parked vehicles. Besides four vehicles used in the crime, cops have also seized around 50 litres of diesel worth Rs 3,500 from their possession.

According to police, complainant Swapnil Arunrao Akhand (29), a resident of Kohli village in Kalmeshwar, works as a bus driver with Shatabdi Chowk based Hansa Travels. Swapnil was sleeping inside the bus between the intervening night of October 10 and 11. At around 3.45 am, Swapnil woke up owing to some noise. When he got off the bus, Swapnil found a group of youth stealing diesel from the bus. As soon as Swapnil raised alarm, the youths fled the spot on their moped (MH/49/AV/3034). However, Swapnil managed to note the moped’s number.

Following the incident, Swapnil approached Ajni police and lodged complaint. Based on the information, the squad of Ajni police comprising Constables Shailesh, Bhavtikumar, Aashish, Hansaraj launched the hunt of the moped number MH/49/AV/3034 and nabbed all the accused.

Ajni police have booked accused identified as Abhishek Bablu Dhabarde (20), Chirag Pradeep Hivarkar (18), both residents of Jai Bhim Nagar, Piyush Rajesh Rangari (18), a resident of Indira Nagar Slums, Rupesh alias Babalu Shivram Morle (31), a resident of Ajni, Prabhal alias Monty Mahendra Bhelave (19), a resident of Rambag, Aadarsh Ramesh Samarth (18), a resident of Wasant Nagar and detained a juvenile in this connection.

Nagpur: A 16-year old girl has reportedly been kidnapped from a bus stop in Sakkardara area here on Monday, October 14.

The complainant parent told Sakkardara police that he dropped his 16-year old daughter at Sakkardara bus stop around 1 pm on Monday for going to home in Shankarpur. However, the teenage girl did not reach home and since then went missing. Her relatives serached her at all possible places but could not find her.

Finally, a case was registered with Sakkardara police on Wednesday. The girl could have been lured and abducted by some unidentified person(s).

PSI Masram, as per Supreme Court ruling that if a minor boy or girl goes missing then the case should be treated that of kidnapping, has registered an offence under Section 363 of the IPC and launched a search to trace the girl.

Nagpur: Continuing their crackdown on notorious criminals, Commissioner of Police Dr Bhushankumar Upadhyay has ordered detention of one more hardcore goon Ritik alias Dadu alias Jangkhaya Vishal Nagdeve under Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act, 1981.

A resident of Samata Nagar, New Jaripatka, Yadav Layout, Ritik alias Dadu alias Jangkhaya Vishal Nagdeve has been active in Jaripatka and Sitabuldi police jurisdictions and was involved in crimes of serious nature including burglaries, house-breakings, assault by lethal weapons, possession of firearms illegally, extortion and other crimes. Despite preventive action under Section 110(E)G) of CrPC against the hardcore goon, he continued committing serious crimes in Jaripatka area.

Subsequently, the Commissioner of Police decided to act tough and ordered detention of Ritik alias Dadu alias Jangkhaya Vishal Nagdeve under Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act which is also known as Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Slumlords, Bootleggers, Drug-Offenders and Dangerous Persons Act, 1981. He was sent to Akola and lodged in District Jail.

In a drive to stop repeat offenders from escaping the law, the police have booked several criminals in Acts like MPDA and Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), 1999. The Commissioner of Police Dr Upadhyay has ordered detention of 41 goons under MPDA Act within span of last 1 year and the police department has also invoked MCOCA in recent times.

Nagpur: The special squad of DCP Zone 5, Neelotpal on Friday nabbed an absconding goon Tarun alias Sanjay Jain from Kamptee and also seized an illicit liquor stock from the possession of a Kalamna based youth.

Following the secret information, the special squad of DCP Zone 5, comprising API Prashant D Annachhatre and Constables Vinod Sontakke, Suraj Bharti, Chetan Jadhav, Prabhakar Mankar, Ravindra Raut, Mrudul Nagare, first arrested the absconding criminal Jain (25), a resident of Gora Bazar, Cantonment Kamptee during the night patrolling. Jain has two offences registered against him at Yashodhara Police Station and was absconding from quite some time.

Following his arrest, the special squad received another tip about a Kalamna based youth, having illegal country made liquor stock in his possession. Acting swiftly, the cops rushed to Kalamna and arrested accused Rajesh Parmesh Ramteke (19), a resident of Chikhali Gajanan Mandir, near Kalamna Market. Besides an Activa moped, police have also seized liquor stock worth Rs 7,488 from the possession of accused.

Nagpur: Pachpaoli police have foiled an imminent dacoity bid by arresting a gang of four armed robbers near Shiv Nagraj Hanuman Mandir in the wee hours of Saturday. One gang member managed to flee from the spot taking advantage of the dark. Cops have seized three swords, one knife, nylon rope, and other materials from the possession of accused.

During the night patrolling duty, API S S Suroshe received secret information about the gang assembled beside a law near Shiv Nagraj Hanuman Mandir. Acting swiftly on the information, the squad of Pachpaoli police led by API Suroshe rushed to spot and surrounded a group of five men at around 2 am. However, one accused managed to flee from the spot owing to dark. On asking the reason behind assembling at this time of an hour, the men failed to give any satisfactory reply. Following this cops searched them and found swords, knife, ropes and other material in their possession.

The names of the accused were given as Saurabh Sudhir Wasnik (23), a resident of Lashkaribagh, Ankit Suryakant Chavale (21), Shubham alias Zingya Janaklal Dhanore (20), Paras Gopal Batho (22), all residents of Tandapeth. The absconding accused has been identified as Vishal Vijay Meshram (23), a resident of Balabhaupeth, Bapu Kuti Nagar.

Pachpaoli police have booked all the accused under Sections 399, 402 of the IPC read with Sub-Section 4, 25 of the Indian Arms Act.

Nagpur: Pratap Nagar police have booked an Accounts Manager on the charges of defrauding his company to the tune of Rs 52 lakh.

The accused, Amit Santram Apreja (41), resident of Plot No. 10/B, Gokuldham, Jai Durga Nagar, Godhni, worked as Accounts Manager at M/s SMS Company Limited situated at 20 STPI, Gayatri Nagar, Parsodi. He was working at company’s Wardha Bridge Project site. Between December 16, 2012 and July 22, 2019, the accused Amit tampered with the company’s Ledger Book and showed his wife and other persons as creditors. Later, he withdrew money through cheques in the name of his wife and other persons as well as cash fraudulently. The accused Amit Apreja defrauded his company collectively to the tune of Rs 52.19 lakh.

Pratap Nagar API Thorat, based on a complaint lodged by Abhishek Anil Mehta (37), resident of Plot No. 404, Maharshi Kapil Apartment, Swavalambi Nagar, booked the accused Amit Apreja under Sections 420, 406, 408 of the IPC and launched probe into the matter.

Nagpur: Tehsil police have rounded up a 19-year-old teenager allegedly for indulging in vehicle lifting activities. The cops have also recovered three mopeds and a Pulsar 220 bike from his possession.

The accused has been identified as Mustakin Abdul Faheem. Tehsil police received a complaint of vehicle theft where complainant Manmohan Babulal Sharma, a resident of New Itwari told cops that some unidentified miscreants lifted his Pulsar 220 bike (MH/49/AG/8044) from the basement parking of his house. Following which cops launched the probe into the matter.

During the investigation, cops received information about one Mustakin Abdul Faheem has the stolen bike. Acting swiftly on the information, the squad of Tehsil police comprising Senior PI Ajaykumar Malviya, API Dilip Sagar, PSI Swapnil Wagh, Constables Shailesh Dhabhole, Praveen Manapure and others surrounded Mustakin and sought papers of the bike. However, when Mustakin failed to provide papers the cops brought him to the police station.

During the scanning of records, cops found that Mustakin has already an offence of vehicle lifting registered against him. Following which police interrogated him, it is when he succumbed to police pressure and confessed that he had lifted three more mopeds besides the bike.

Cops have booked accused Mustakin under Section 379 of the IPC and placed him under arrest.

The arrest drive was supervised under the guidance of DCP Zone 3, Rahul Maknikar and ACP Pardeshi, Kotwali Division.

Nagpur: In a major success, the sleuths of Crime Branch (Rural) arrested a gang of five robbers who attacked a Hindustan Unilever (HU) distributor with sharp weapons and looted Rs 8.50 lakh from him in Umred on Monday, October 14. The incident occurred when victim Nikesh Mahesh Tolani (29), had gone to deposit the money in a bank.

Among the arrested is a former HU driver Kaseem alias Pappu Ahmadkha Pathan (25), a resident of Gittikhadan, who masterminded the robbery.

Other four arrested accused have been identified as Sumit Prabhakar Somkuwar (23), a resident of Ambadi village, in Sausar Tehsil in Chhindwara district (MP), Sayyed Yasin alias Chini Sayyed Kaleem (19), a resident of Yadav Nagar, Kalamna Road, Mangesh Santosh Kharpuriya (21) and Mangesh alias Guddu Birju Padoliya (23), both residents of Katol.

According to police, Kaseem used to work as a driver with Kalmeshwar based Hindustan Unilever Company. Kaseem would transport Tolani’s stock to Umred. During the same, he found that Tolani was depositing hefty amounts in a bank on daily basis. He hatched a conspiracy to rob him and subsequently roped in other accused.

On October 14 at 11.30 am, Tolani came to the bank on a moped with two bags containing Rs 8,53,000. When he was walking towards the bank, two of the accused came from behind and caught him. Later, the third accused came to the spot and tried to snatch the bags. When Tolani resisted, they attacked him with sharp weapons and stabbed him in abdomen and head. After grabbing the bags, the accused fled the town on Pulsar 220 motorcycle, added police sources.

Nagpur: In a shocking incident, a pervert man forcibly took a neighbouring 15-year old girl to his house and asked her to marry him. When the girl refused, the man raped her. The incident occurred in Imamwada police jurisdiction on October 11 night. The accused has been arrested.

The pervert accused has been identified as Nikhil Shyam Javade (28), residing near Tathagat Buddha Vihar, Imamwada.

On October 11 around 9.30 pm, Nikhil caught hand of neighbouring 15-year old girl and forcibly took her to his house. He asked the minor girl to marry him. When the girl refused, the accused raped her.

Imamwada Woman PSI Shrivastav, based on the victim girl’s complaint, booked the accused Nikhil Javade under Section 376 of the IPC read with Sections 3, 4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and placed him under arrest. Further probe is underway.

Nagpur: A hardware trader was robbed of Rs 2.16 lakh by unidentified miscreants in Itwari area of Tehsil police juridiction on Sunday.

A resident of Flat No. G18, Anand Palace Apartment, Plot No. 235, Nandanvan Layout, Virendrakumar Malchand Maheshwari (65) runs a shop named Shankar Hardware at Loka Oli, Itwari. On Sunday around 0510 hours, Virendrakumar kept his green coloured bag containing Rs 2.16 lakh cash in the dicky of his Activa (MH-31/BR 3465). He later went to shop for bringing bank slip for depositing the money. Between 0510 hours and 11 am, unidentified miscreants opened the dicky of the Activa and decamped with the bag containing Rs 2.16 lakh cash. When Virendrakumar returned to his Activa, he found dicky open and the bag missing.

Tehsil cops, based on Virendrakumar’s complaint, registered a case under Section 379 of the IPC and launched a search for the unidentified burglars.

A man was killed by his younger brother for using his brother’s toilet in New Kamptee police station area on Sunday afternoon. The accused Suresh Tarachand Borkar (45) went absconding after killing his elder brother – Khushal Tarachand Borkar (50).

Suresh and Khushal were living with their families in separate homes constructed on a residential plot in Rama Nagar, near Budhha Vihar, said a police official.

The brothers were dealing in scraps, they said. They had constructed two separate toilets adjacent to each other for their families in the house. The brothers were used fight over using of these toilets and they were asking each other to leave the place.

On Sunday, the accused had an altercation with his elder brother, following which he killed Khushal. He stabbed a knife in the chest of Khushal and fled the spot. Profusely bleeding Khushal was rushed to the hospital by family members where doctors declared him brought dead.

On the basis of complaint given by Khushal’s wife Seema, New Kamptee police have registered the case under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code and launched hunt to arrest him.

Nagpur: Burglars struck at two houses in Pratap Nagar and Hudkeshwar police areas and decamped with cash and gold booty collectively valued at Rs 1.93 lakh.

In the first incident, a resident of Shyam Nagar Slums, Pratap Nagar, Aniket Anil Kamble (23) told police that his mother wanted to go for voting on Monday, October 21. However, since the door of the house was not closing properly, she tied a rope to the door and went for voting around 2 pm. Taking advantage of the situation, unidentified miscreant entered her house rather easily and decamped with gold ornaments worth Rs 90,000 kept in an almirah. The theft came to notice when Aniket’s mother returned home around 3 pm.

Pratap Nagar API S T Pethe has registered a case under Sections 454, 380 of the IPC and searching for the burglar.

In Hudkeshwar, Aniket Rakesh Potdukhe (20), residing as tenant in Sanjay Fartode’s house at Plot No. 16, Lavkush Nagar, Manewada Road, along with mother and sister had gone to his maternal uncle Anil Deshmukh’s house in Shree Colony around 2 pm on Tuesday. Some unidentified miscreants broke latch of the door and stole Rs 1.03 lakh cash kept in almirah.

Hudkeshwar police constable Yuvraj has registered an offence under Sections 454, 380 of the IPC and searching for the accused.

Nagpur: Crime Branch Unit 5 has nabbed the absconding accused involved in murder of a 27-year old man in Kamptee on September 7, 2019. The arrested accused has been identified as Sunny alias Sanjay Shyamlal Chavan.

On September 7, in the early morning, the accused Sanjay Chavan and his accomplices attacked Satish Kishore Dhamti (27), resident of Pivali Haveli, Kolsa Tal, Kamptee, with sharp-edged weapons and killed him to settle score over old enmity. Since then the accused was absconding and evading arrest. Kamptee police had registered an offence under Sections 302, 120(B), 34 of the IPC.

The probe was handed over to Crime Branch Unit 5 and investigation was being carried out by Police Inspector Vinod Patil. A team of cops led by PI Patil was on trail of the absconding accused Sanjay Chavan with the help of informants and Cyber Cell. On Tuesday, October 22, cops received information that the absconding accused was hiding in a rented house near Pili Nadi in Yashodhara Nagar. The team of cops, acting on tip-off, laid a trap and surrounded the house. When cops approached to nab the accused, he tried to run away from other building but was chased and caught.

Nagpur: Sensation prevailed in Hudkeshwar vicinity, after a youth was brutally killed by sharp edged weapons following a political enmity on Monday morning, sources informed Nagpur Today.

Deceased has been identified has Jitu Bade, a resident of Marekari in Hudkeshwar.

According to sources, Jitu reportedly tore apart a banner of a newly elected MLA in the area. Furious over incident, some supporters of MLA launched the murderous attack on Jitu. The unidentified assailant attacked Jitu with sharp weapons and killed him on the spot on Monday morning.

An offence of murder has been registered with Hudkeshwar police station who are investigating further.
