Nagpur: In a shocking incident, a 14-year old boy committed suicide by hanging in the bathroom of his house in Nandanvan police area here on Sunday night. The reason for such a drastic step could not be ascertained immediately.

A resident of Plot No. 74-B, Ramana Maruti Nagar, Sarvesh Sachin Makde (14) ended his life by hanging to the drawer handle in the bathroom with the help of a nylon rope around 8.30 pm on Sunday. The exact reason behind Sarvesh taking the extreme step could not be ascertained immediately.

Nandanvan API Devkar, on the basis of information, registered a case of accidental death and launched a thorough probe into the matter.

Nagpur: Beltarodi police have booked a 27-year old man for enacting suicide drama in a curious case on Monday morning. The accused had first “abducted” a married woman in city but when she refused to go with him, he attempted suicide by slashing veins of both hands by a vegetable knife.

The accused has been identified as Deepak Sanjay Patil (27), native of village Yengaon, District Jalgaon.

According to police, the accused Deepak had “abducted” the wife of a man from the city on July 30, 2020. A missing complaint in this regard was lodged by the husband of the woman at Beltarodi Police Station. However, on Monday, March 22, 2021, as the woman refused to go with the accused, he enacted a suicide drama at the complainant’s house. Around 11.30 am, the accused went to the complainant’s house and slashed veins of his both hands in an attempt to commit suicide. But he survived.

Beltarodi police constable Surendra, based on a complaint lodged by the woman’s husband, booked the accused Deepak Patil under Section 309 of the IPC. Further probe is underway.

Nagpur: A man exploited his college friend sexually for over two years on marriage pretext but cheated her by engaging with another woman. The accused has been booked by New Kamptee police.

The victim woman (28), in her complaint, told police that the accused Dharmadas Uttamrao Gedam, resident of Chimur Tehsil, Chandrapur District, was studying with her in a Chandrapur college. The accused befriended her and lured her with a marriage promise. With this promise, the accused brought her to Nagpur for outing at different places between February 2019 and January 2, 2021. The accused also took her to a hotel in Shegaon in Buldhana district on the pretext of celebrating birthday. At the hotel, the accused exploited her sexually forcibly. Later instead of marrying her, the accused got engaged with another woman and thus cheated the victim.

New Kamptee PSI R S Narote, acting on the victim’s complaint, booked the accused Dharmadas Gedam under Sections 376, 420 of the IPC and launched a probe.

Nagpur: A team of Ajni police on Monday raided an illegal brewery being run in Rahate Nagar Toli and seized a large quantity of illicit country made liquor prepared from mahua flowers. Four women bootleggers have been arrested during the raid.

Acting on a tip off, Ajni police team led by Senior Police Inspector Vinod Chaudhary raided the illegal brewery in Rahate Nagar Toli on Monday and seized 1360 litres of fermented mahua mixture and 560 litres of mahua liquor collectively worth Rs 1.26 lakh. The material was seized from residences of four women bootleggers namely Karuna Joshi Mankar, Vanchabai Manik Hatagade, Jairaj Londhe and Asha Deepak Hatagade, all residents of Rahate Nagar Toli.

The raiding cops also seized a stock of 3000 litres of fermented mahua mixture hidden at a vacant place and some huts in the area. The seized stock is worth Rs 3 lakh. The entire stock was destroyed at the spot itself.

The raid action was carried out under the directives of DCP Zone 4 Dr Akshay Shinde by Senior Police Inspector Vinod Chaudhary, State Excise Inspector Shengar, Badwaik, Gidse, API Santosh Jadhav, and other staff of Ajni Police Station.

Nagpur: A murder accused kinnar (transgender), lodged in Nagpur Central Jail, was raped by on-duty police personnel and some prisoners frequently since the past few days. The Jail administration was allegedly neglecting the complaints filed by the victim kinnar. Subsequently, based on a petition, the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court has issued notices to the Jail Superintendent and DIG and sought their replies by May 6. The court has also ordered the Jail Superintendent to present the complainant kinnar before Dhantoli police for filing an FIR against the accused.

According to media reports, the petition filed by the victim kinnar in the High Court, names of the accused persons have been mentioned. They are Sachin Tichkule, PSI Karpande, Bhosale, prisoners Mukesh Yadav and Darshan Singh Kapoor. It is being alleged that as the jail administration neglected the victim’s complaints, the kinnar had resorted to fast agitation. The kinnar had also approached the Sessions Court in this connection but no action was initiated. Finally, a petition was filed in the High Court.

It may be recalled that in June 2019, a group of kinnars had attacked another kinnar named Chamcham murderously over the hostility between two groups of Kinnars over establishing supremacy in their “field of activity.” The attacked kinnar later died.

At that time, police had arrested five kinnars for their alleged involved in the murder. The arrested kinnars were lodged in male barracks of Nagpur Central Jail. Four of the kinnars were granted bail but the said victim kinnar was still in jail. The kinnar had pleaded with jail administration for separate barracks but no action was taken. In the meantime, the accused police personnel and some prisoners abused the kinnar sexually for days, the media report said.

Nagpur: In a shocking incident, a 16-year old girl was raped at knife point while her friend was detained in another room by three accomplices of rape accused to keep her quiet. The incident took place in Ajni police jurisdiction on Tuesday afternoon. No arrest has been made in the matter so far.

The complainant, the 16-year old girl, told police that the accused Amit Lokhande (22), resident of Kailas Nagar, called her friend, also aged 16, to his house around 2.30 pm on Tuesday, March 23. As she went to his house, the accused raped her at knife point. As the complainant girl was also accompanying her, she was detained in another room at knife point by three accomplices of rape accused Amit Lokhande in order to keep her quiet.

Ajni PSI Dake, based on the complaint, booked all the accused under Sections 376(D), 506(B), 34 of the IPC read with Sections 4, 9(G) of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. No arrest has been made in the case so far. Cops have launched a thorough probe into the matter.

Nagpur: Cracking down on illegal hooch dens and illicit breweries ahead festival of colours, the squad of Gittikhadan Police conducted multiple raids in Bhiwasenkhori area on Thursday. Besides, arresting nine accused including seven women, cops have also confiscated materials worth ₹6,99,500 and destroyed chemicals, country made liquor made from moha flower during the action.

An extensive operation against illicit liquor was carried out under the supervision of Nagpur Commissioner of Police, Amitesh Kumar, Addl CP North Region and DCP Zone 2, Vinita S.

An offence under relevant Sections of the IPC was registered against accused. Further probe is underway.

Nagpur: The officials of Railway Police Force (RPF) in association with Amaravati Police on Friday, arrested Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) Vinod Shivkumar from Nagpur Railway Station in connection with Range Forest Officer (RFO) Deepali Chavan suicide case.

Amaravti Police had received secret information that Shivkumar is boarding a train for Bangalore from Nagpur Railway Station. Acting swiftly on the inputs, Amravati cops roped-in RPF officials of Nagpur Railway Stations who in a joint operation nabbed Shivkumar from Delhi-Bangalore Express at around 9.30 am.

Chavan (33), the RFO of Harisal with the Wildlife Section of Sipna Forest Divison in Melghat, Amravati District committed suicide at her residential wairteen in Harisal on Thursday evening. Chavan had left a suicide note running into several pages where she accused Senior Forest Officials of harassment and forcing her to take extreme step.

Nagpur: In a heinous incident, a stepfather abused 8-year old daughter sexually for over two months. The pervert accused has been booked but not arrested as yet. The incident has been reported in Ajni police jurisdiction.

A relative of the kid victim told police that the accused stepfather Mahendra Premdas Shelke (34) exploited the 8-year old daughter sexually whenever her mother went out for work. The accused abused the kid girl from January 28 to March 14, 2021.

Ajni Woman PSI Somankar, acting on the complaint, booked the pervert accused Mahendra Shelke under Sections 376, 376(2)(i)(N) of the IPC read with Sections 4, 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. No arrest has been made in the case.

Nagpur: Acting on a tip-off, the Social Security Branch (SSB) of Nagpur Police raided an apartment in Hudkeshwar and busted a sex racket being operated from the flat. The raiding cops arrested two women pimps and rescued a girl who was pushed into the flesh trade.

The arrested accused have been identified as Shilpa Manish Dalal (36), resident of Dhanashri 2, Pradnya Apartment, Swagat Nagar, Narsala Road and Kanta Sunil Sanodiya (45), resident of Plot No. 11, Beldar Nagar, Dighori.

The SSB sleuths had received secret information that a sex racket was being run from Dhanashri 2, Pradnya Apartment, Swagat Nagar, Narsala Road, by the two accused women. After confirming the information, the ACP (Crime) directed the PI Ravi Nagose to initiate action. First, the cops sent a decoy customer to the flat and asked for a girl to the two accused women. The accused took Rs 1500 from the decoy customer and sent him to the adjacent bedroom where the girl was present. Soon after receiving a signal from the decoy customer in the form of an SMS message, a team of SSB sleuths accompanied by two social workers raided the apartment. The raiding cops found the two accused women sitting in a room and the decoy and the girl in the adjacent bedroom.

Subsequent to revelation, the cops placed the two women pimps under arrest and rescued the victim girl who was dragged into flesh trade by the accused for their own monetary benefits.

An offence under Sections 3, 4, 5 and 7 of Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act was registered at Hudkeshwar Police Station against the accused.

The raid was conducted by PI Ravi Nagose, Woman PSIs Smita Sonavane, Mangala Harde, constable Anil Ambade, NPC Rashid Sheikh, NPC Reena, sepoys Bhushan Zade, Ajay Paunikar under the guidance of Addl CP Sunil Fulari and DCP Gajanan Rajmane.

Nagpur: The vigilant squad of Ganeshpeth Police arrested six persons for their alleged involvement in running counterfeit currency racket. Addressing the press conference in this connection on Friday, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone 3, Lohit Matani said that sum of 102 fake Indian notes of ₹100 were seized from the possession of accused identified as Javed Sayyad Husain Sayyad (27), Sheik Sameer Sheik Salim (27), Mirza Sameer Beg Wald Sarfaraz Beg (30), Nilesh Shalilram Modariya (31), Adul Aadil Abdul Wahab (25), Abdul Tohseef Abdul Kaleem (21).

According to police, the action was followed by secret information they had received on March 18 regarding a group men carrying counterfeit currency assembled at Tilak Putla Chowk near Gandhisagar Lake. Acting swiftly on the inputs, Senior Police Inspector Bharat Kshirsagar, PI (Crime) R Pawar, API R S Mulani, Constables Pankaj Borate, Dinesh Bhonge, Pankaj Manekar, Prashant Gajbhiye, Ankush Chaudhary, Yogesh, Praveen, Rajan Yadav and Sajid Khan rounded them up and found fake currency of ₹6,200 in the form of ₹100 notes from them. Besides, cops also confiscated materials worth ₹8,24,350 including mobile phones and an Innova car from the accused.

Nagpur: Kabootar Bazi took a bloody turn as a youth was murdered brutally by his rival in Gittikhadan police area here on Friday night. The accused killer has reportedly been arrested.

The deceased has been identified as Akshay Sidharth Bafde (25), resident of Gawlipura, near Dongre Flour Mill, Gittikhadan.

According to police sources, the accused Raja alias Arman alias Ahar Jaffer Khan (27) and the deceased Akshay Bagde were neighbours. Both indulged in Kabootar Baz (pigeon rearing). On Friday around 9 pm, a quarrel erupted between Raja and Akshay over pigeon flying. The wordy duel took a bloody turn as Raja attacked Akshay with a sharp-edged weapon and stabbed him on his chest. Akshay collapsed and died on the spot.

Gittikhadan PSI Waklekar, based on a complaint lodged by Roshni Robin Salve (31), resident of Gawlipura, booked the accused Raja alias Arman alias Ahar Jaffer Khan under Section 302 of the IPC and reportedly arrested him. Further probe is underway.

Pune/Nagpur: The Pimpri-Chinchwad police raided three locations in the late hours of Friday and arrested 33 bookies for allegedly running a cricket betting operation during the India-England cricket match which was held at Gahunje stadium.

The arrested were produced in a local court on Saturday.

“We have arrested 33 bookies in the raids. Wakad senior police inspector made three teams and raided three places – a high rise building near Gahunje stadium, a hillock near the stadium, and a hotel in the city. They (the arrested) are from different states. Money has been recovered in dollars, pound, and dirhams from the arrested men,” said Krishna Prakash, commissioner, Pimpri-Chinchwad police.

Of the arrested people, one is from Goa, five are from Madhya Pradesh, 13 from Haryana, 11 from Maharashtra, two from Rajasthan, and one from Uttar Pradesh. Among 11 from Maharashtra 3 are from Nagpur and active in Khamla area of the city. From three locations, the police seized a total of 73 mobile phones, one car, three laptops, one tablet, eight cameras, four binoculars, one speaker and ₹1,55,000 cash including foreign currency worth ₹28,800.

Commission Prakash said that the six seconds of the time lag between the match and the live stream is what helped the bookies keep a tab on the movements to accept and even place bets and make money. The men allegedly used binoculars to keep tabs on the match before taking or placing bets.

“The main accused, as per the preliminary investigation, have been identified as Bholu from Bhopal, Bihar and Chetan alias Sonu from Nagpur, Maharashtra,” said senior police inspector Vivek Mugalikar of Wakad police station who led the raids.

“They (bookies) tried to attack the policemen who had first entered the raid spot without realising that the police reinforcements were ready to arrest them,” said Prakash.

They had arrived in the city through various modes of transport in the past few days including- road, railway, and airways.

A case is registered at Wakad police station under Sections 353, 332, 188, 269 of Indian Penal Code along with Section 4, 5, and 12(a) of Gambling Act; Section 21 of Indian Telegraph Act; and Section 7 of Criminal Law Amendment Act.

Nagpur: A senior Nagpur police inspector was booked on extortion charges on the basis of a court order, an official said on Sunday.

Senior Inspector Vinod Chaudhary was booked along with a private citizen identified as Mohammad Ashfaque Ali on the order of the JMFC Court, he added.

“As per the complaint, a money-lender had given Rs 10 lakh to Ali to build a house. However, later Ali filed a case against the money-lender instead of returning the money. The money-lender was called to a Crime Branch unit where Chaudhary was posted. Chaudhary assaulted the money-lender and demanded money,” he said.

Nagpur: Wordy duel among three drunkards led to murder of a 32-year old man in Ganeshpeth police area on Holi day. Two accused have reportedly been arrested in the murder case.

The deceased has been identified as Lakhan Pappu Gaekwad, resident of Takiya, Dhantoli.

According to police, Lakhan and his two friends Chetan alias Baba Mandal (30), resident of Hiwri Nagar and Tanmay alias Bhadya Nagrale (30), resident of Kaushalya Nagar, consumed liquor around 6 pm on Monday. After enjoying the heady stuff, the three friends were sitting in front of Sangeeta Rajesh Nagdive’s house near Mokshadham Ghat. Meanwhile, a quarrel erupted between Lakhan and the accused Chetan and Tanmay over an old issue. During the heated exchange, the accused Chetan and Tanmay whipped out knives and stabbed Lakhan on his neck, back and abdomen. He collapsed and died on the spot.

Ganeshpeth Woman PSI Mokase, based on a complaint lodged by Naresh Ramchandra Wankhede (49) of Dhantoli, booked the accused duo Chetan Mandal and Tanmay Nagrale under Sections 302, 34 of the IPC. Both the accused have reportedly been arrested.

Nagpur: NOTORIOUS goon Ranjit Safelkar, involved in murder case of architect Eknath Nimgade and goon Manish Shrivas, was finally arrested by Nagpur Police on Tuesday. He will be handed over to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) which is investigating murder case of architect Nimgade. Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar informed local daily that Safelkar was nabbed from the city itself on Tuesday evening. “Our teams are questioning him in connection with his involvement in gory crimes.

He would be handed over to CBI for further inquiry,” the CP said. It may be mentioned that in last fortnight, the CP addressed two press conferences claiming to have solved murder mysteries of Eknath Nimgade and Manish Shrivas. In both the murder cases, Safelkar was the prime accused, the CP had said. Safelkar, once a labourer in Kamptee town, rose to become a dreaded goon in last two decades. Earlier, he was indulging in petty crimes. After forming a gang, he was involved in several types of crimes especially property matters. He was also active in politics and controlling sand mining in some areas. In Nimgade murder case, Safelkar received the contract from ‘someone’ and roped in another goon Sharad alias Kalu Hatey in the crime.

The ‘someone’ was eyeing Nimgade’s prime property worth more than Rs 200 crore. According to police, Safelkar and Hatey contacted another goon Nawab alias Chhote Sahab Ashrafi alias Nubbu and fixed the contract at Rs five crore. They called shooters from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh and shot dead Nimgade near Agrasen Chowk on September 6, 2016. Before killing Nimgade, Safelkar had killed notorious goon Manish Shrivas on March 4, 2012. Shrivas was taken to a house situated in the fields near Pawangaon (Dhargaon) on Kamptee-Kalamna Road where he was killed by the accused. His body was brought to another house at Kamptee in a Santro car. They then chopped the body into several small pieces and stuffed them in gunny bags. The accused then dumped the bags in a nearby forest. The Nagpur police announced on March 27 that the case was solved and three goons Kalu Hate, Bharat Hate and Hemant Gorkha were arrested.

Fearing encounter, Safelkar moved HC promising surrender before CBI APPREHENDING his arrest and fearing encounter, dreaded goon Ranjit Safelkar had knocked the doors of the High Court claiming false implication in architect Eknath Nimgade murder case following a roving enquiry and promised to surrender before the CBI. In his affidavit filed before the High Court, Safelkar claimed that he had no connection with Nimgade or land owned by him. The crime chart made public by Nagpur Police was part of his reply filed during his anticipatory bail application way back in 2016, Safelkar claimed while admitting his criminal antecedents. The last offence was registered against him in 2007 and then in 2016 but since then he was leading a crime-free life, he claimed in the petition. Safelkar claiming threat to his life claimed that under the guise of free hand, he will be gunned down and sought protection from the High Court till he surrenders before the CBI or avail legal remedy to secure protection from competent court.

Nagpur: The Nagpur District Court on Wednesday remanded notorious goon Ranjit Safelkar to Police Custody Remand (PCR) till Apil 7, in Manish Shriwas murder case. Earlier, the cops had brought handcuffed Safelkar, barefooted to the District Court in full public view.

Safelkar, involved in murder case of architect Eknath Nimgade and goon Manish Shrivas, was finally arrested by Nagpur Police on Tuesday.

Notorious goon Tipu alias Sultan detained under MPDA Act

Nagpur: In the continuing crackdown on hardcore criminals, the Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar has ordered detention of one more notorious Tipu alias Sultan Sheikh Ashpaq Sheikh (22) under Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act, 1981. The order to detain the goon under the stringent Act was passed on Tuesday, March 30.

A resident of Lane No. 13, Adivasi Prakash Nagar coming under Kalamna police jurisdiction, Tipu alias Sultan Sheikh has been sent to Nagpur Central Prison after he was detained under MPDA Act which is also known as Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Slumlords, Bootleggers, Drug-Offenders and Dangerous Persons Act, 1981.

The goon was active in Kalamna and Wathoda police areas and was involved in crimes of serious nature including attempt to murder, assault by lethal weapons, planning dacoities, riots with deadly weapons, damage to public properties, possession of firearms illegally, and several other serious crimes. A total of 12 offences have been registered against the criminal. Preventive action against Tipu under Section 110(E)(G) was initiated in 2020 but the goon continued to indulge in criminal activities.

Taking serious note of the criminal activities of the goon and the danger he posed to people, a report to detain him under MPDA Act was prepared by DCP Zone 5 Neelotpal and Senior PI Vishwanath Chavan was submitted to the Crime Branch. Based on the report, the Additional CP (Crime) Sunil Fulari and DCP (Detection) Gajanan Rajmane prepared a proposal and submitted it to the Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar. Acting on the proposal, Kuamr ordered detention of Tipu alias Sultan Sheikh under MPDA Act.

Nagpur: A 17-year old girl was sexually exploited by a neighbouring youth for over a month on the promise of marriage. Nandanvan police have booked the accused after a complaint was lodged by the victim on Wednesday.

According to the police, the victim was sexually exploited by the accused Dheeraj Dhanraj Bawne (21), residing in same area where the girl lived on the pretext of marrying her. The accused abused the girl from February 28 to March 30, 2021. The accused apparently refused to marry the girl prompting her to register a case against him with Nanadnvan police.

Nagpur: Ajni Police have booked a 42-year-old man for showing pornographic video to a minor girl of his neighbour. The man, identified as Sheikh, showed the video to the girl who is 10 years old.

The parents of the girl came to know about it after a few days. Finally, the girl’s parent lodged a complaint against Sheikh, based on which Ajni Police booked him under Sections 354(A) and 509 of the Indian Penal Code, and Section 12 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
