Nagpur: In an audacious act, a group of four persons on Sunday abducted a middle-aged man from his Sindhi Colony residence in a broad day light. The abductors reportedly thrashed the man and threatened to kill him if he refused to pay them money. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Pachpaoli police station.

A 55-year-old complainant Ishwar Pahalajraj Kungwani, a resident of Sindhi Colony, Ashok Square was at home on Sunday when at around 2.30 pm accused Praveen Daryani (39), Ravi Daryani (32), Babbu Bir (32) and Navjot Singh Ladi (35) all residents of Jaripatka barged in his house. The accused forced him to seat on their motorcycle and took him inside a hut at an isolated place, where all the accused then reportedly beat up Ishwar and threatened to kill him, if he refused to pay them money. The accused then tied him inside a hut and left the spot.

However, Ishwar somehow managed to flee from the hut and approached Pachpaoli police.

Pachpaoli police have booked all the accused under Sections 365, 384, 452, 504, 506, 323, 34 of the IPC and began the probe.

Nagpur: A 29-year-old woman has accused her Facebook friend of raping her. The accused reportedly befriended her on the social media site and sexually exploited her between November 2017 and February 2018, the woman stated in her complaint lodged with Yashodhara Nagar police station.

The Yashodharanagar police have booked accused Sumit Dayaram Mahadushinde (25), a resident of Plot. No. 43, Shivshakti Nagar, Wanjari Lay-out in this connection.

According to 29-year-old survivor, she met Sumit on Facebook, in 2017. The duo soon exchanged the numbers and started calling each other. The friendship later took a romantic turn, when Sumit proposed the survivor. Subsequently, the duo developed a love affair. It was during this period, that Sumit expressed his sexual desire towards the survivor. As he had promised to tie a knot with her, she did not resist to his demand. Thus, Sumit started sexually exploiting the survivor. However, when the complainant approached him with marriage offer, Sumit started avoiding her texts and phone calls. Sensing something amiss, the survivor then approached Yashodharanagar police, who have filed a case against Sumit.

Cops have booked accused Sumit under Sections 376, 506 of the IPC and started the investigation.

Nagpur: Nandanvan police have rounded up a 21-year-old youth for allegedly thrashing his friend with an iron rod as he failed to bear victim’s witty remarks during the friendly a meet, on April 24, this year.

According to police, complainant Siddharth Smrutinand Mishra (21), a resident of Achivat Colony, Umred road, went to meet his friends Harshal and accused Rahul Dudhankar (21), both residents of Ramna Maroti Square, near NIT garden, on April 24. At around 7 pm, when the trio was engaged in conversation, Siddharth cracked a joke on Rahul, to which he asked Siddharth not to repeat the same. However, Siddharth kept on cracking several jokes and passing witty remarks on Rahul, which triggered an argument between the duo. Subsequently, Rahul went inside his house to get an iron rod, while Siddharth and Harshal were busy in the conversation. As soon as he came out, he started beating Siddharth black and blue with an iron rod, injuring his severely.

Harshal then rushed his friend to a nearby hospital and alerted Siddharth’s family.

Following the compliant of Siddharth, Nandanvan police booked accused Rahul under Sectons 326, 506 of the IPC and started the investigation.

ED attaches Empress Mall, other properties worth Rs 483 crore in bank fraud case

Nagpur: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday attached immovable properties consisting of commercially diverted land of 27,0374 square feet along with Empress mall in Nagpur worth Rs 483crore of M/s KSL & Industries Ltd, Mumbai under Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002(PMLA) in bank fraud case. M/s KSL & Industries Ltd ,Mumbai is one of the group company of Tayal group of Companies.

ED initiated investigations under the PMLA on the basis of three FIRs of CBI (B&FC) against three different companies of Tayal group of Companies viz. M/s. Actiff Corporation Ltd, M/s. Jaybharat Textiles & Real Estate Ltd, M/s. KKTL and M/s. Eskay Knit (India) Ltd for cheating and fraudulently availing loans to the amount of Rs 524 crore from Bank of India and Andhra Bank during the year 2008.

In a press release issued by the ED it has been stated that investigation under PMLA revealed that during the year 2008, M/s. Actiff Corporation Ltd, M/s. Jaybharat Textiles & Real Estate Ltd, M/s. KKTL and M/s. Eskay Knit (India) Ltd of Tayal group availed loans of Rs 524 crore by defrauding Bank of India and Andhra Bank and further diverted the funds through maze of shell companies. It was also revealed that for the purpose of money laundering, they had created a maze of shell companies, which were used for routing the diverted funds.

Funds were routed through these shell companies to the companies of Tayal group and used up for creation of assets in the name of M/s KSL& Industries Ltd , Mumbai. These immovable property of Empress Mall in at Nagpur having value of Rs 483 crore has been provisionally attached being proceeds of crime and are involved in money laundering, the press release says.

Earlier, in another similar case involving UCO Bank, properties worth Rs234 crore of Tayal group was also attached. Total attachment is worth Rs 717 crore, says the press release.

It may be recalled that Tayal group of companies, promoted by one of the family members of Pravin Kumar Tayal, was resorting to siphoning off funds obtained from UCO Bank and the accounts became NPA. Money trails of the same were identified and prime properties in Mumbai having market value of Rs 234 crore were also attached under PMLA.

A complaint has also been filed before the special court under PMLA for commission of offence under section 3 of PMLA.

Nagpur: Swinging into action on a complaint of extortion, the Ambazari cops on Tuesday cracked the case and nabbed two persons in this connection within 24 hours, however the mastermind of the case could not be arrested, and he is at large. The trio allegedly blackmailed a woman officer for money between May 2 and 13th.

Police have nabbed accused Krishna Wasudev Ingole (22), a resident of Bharatwada, Kalamna and Jay Agresar (40), a resident of CA road and put them behind the bars. The main accused Sandeep Vasant Deshpande, a resident of Zenda Square, Mahal, is absconding.

Complainant Dr Sarika Ramkrushna Kadu (40), originally a resident of Swami Samarth Apartments, Rathi Nagar, Amravati, currently residing at Utkarsha Anuradha Apartments, Plot No 1, Sadar works as officer with Land Records department. On May 2, Sarika received a WhatsApp call from Sandeep claiming himself as an officer-bearer of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). He told Sarika that he has proofs in form of video clips according to which her office is involved in several irregularities. He further demanded a sum of Rs 3 lakh for not making the video clips public through social media.

Terrified of the extortion call, Sarika agreed to pay the amount to the accused. However, she managed to pay only Rs 70,000 to Sandeep. Following which, Sandeep and his accomplices Krishna and Jay started harassing Sarika and further issued her life threats.

Left with no option, Sarika approached Ambazari police and narrated her ordeal and filed a complaint on Monday. She received another extortion call on Tuesday; it was again Sandeep asking for the rest 2.3 lakh. Sandeep asked Sarika to bring money near Ravi Nagar bus-stop where he’s accomplice will collect it. Subsequently, Sarika alerted the Ambazari cops, who laid a trap near Ravi Nagar bus-stop. Cops asked Sarika to carry an envelope with three notes of Rs 2000 along with piece of papers.

As soon as the goon sent by Sandeep approached Sarika, cops nabbed him. During the investigation he revealed that his name was Krishna and he doesn’t even know the woman. He just received her picture on WhatsApp from Sandeep with message, get money from her. As soon as Krishna spelled the beans, cops arrested Jay. The two were produced before the court and remanded to three days’ police custody. However, Sandeep is at large, and cops have launched a manhunt to nab him.

Nagpur: Amazon – the renowned online market place, liked by millions of consumers across India for its flexible return policy and genuine products, has been duped of Rs 7.63 lakh in Nagpur by none other than its own delivery boys. The accused delivery boys would replace the orders cancelled or returned by the customers and pack other goods back to the company.

Ganeshpeth police have registered the case of fraud against the accused Akash Govindrao Nimje, 24, resident of Panchpaoli, Naresh Kadu, 32, Jaripatka, Yashwant Shikharam Dharmik, 21, Rupesh Sudhakar Sawarkat, 25, Itwari and Harshal Jageshwar Atram, 25, resident of Panchpaoli.

These accused were working with a logistic company Dependo hired by Amazon to deliver ordered products to the customers. Bhojraj Makde, resident of Kalamna is a team leader at Dependo. The accused worked as delivery boys under Makde. As Amazon allows return of ordered products, the accused used to pick the products from customers and allegedly kept those with them. They would send other cheap articles back to Amazon. The fraudulent acts were committed during the period between May 2, 2018 to November 26, 2018. The dubious act came to light after Amazon examined the returned products. Later Makde complained the matter to Ganeshpeth police who registered the crime and was investigating the matter.

Nagpur: Two sisters met with a tragic end, in Pardi area after a truck carrying sand crushed them under its rear wheels on Monday morning. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Kalamna police.

The names of the deceased were given as Laxmi and Anchal Sahu, who had gone to buy milk, it is reported.

According Kalamna police, Laxmi and Anchal went out for morning drive. However, at around 7:30 am when the duo reached Nagpur-Bhandara road near Pardi Naka, recklessly driven truck carrying sand knocked them down, and crushed them under its rear wheels.

The unidentified accused driver was booked by Kalamna police under the relevant Sections of IPC and launched a thoroughly investigation.

Nagpur: A night walk with her husband proved costly affair for a middle aged woman who was relieved of her gold chain by an unidentified bike-born on Sunday.

Sujata Kulkarni (52), a resident of Plot. No. 126, Laxmi Nagar along with her husband Suhas went out for a night walk on Sunday. At around 8 pm when the couple was crossing Abhyankar Nagar Square some unidentified bike-born youth aged between 20 and 25 approached them and snatched away Sujata’s gold chain worth Rs 25,000 before she could raise an alarm.

Subsequently, Kulkarni couple approached Bajajnagar police station and lodged the complaint.

Cops have booked an unidentified miscreant under Section 392 of the IPC and launched the man-hut.

Nagpur: Lakadganj police rounded-up a 22-year-old-youth for allegedly molesting a 21-year-old girl by following her on Saturday night.

The name of the accused has been given as Amarnath Pandey, a resident of Hirvi Nagar.

According to police, went for an outing, a 21-year-old survivor was walking home when Amarnath approached her at around 11.30 pm. Amarnath forced the survivor to share a word with him. However, when the victim refused, Amarnath allegedly molested her by following her till home.

As soon as, the survivor reached her house, she narrated her ordeal to her parents, after which they lodged a complaint against accused Amarnath.

Lakadganj police have booked Amarnath under Sections 354 (D), (1), 504, 506 of the IPC and launched the probe.

Nagpur: A father-daughter duo met with a tragic mishap after a recklessly driven Bullet bike knocked them down on Sakkardhara flyover. Though daughter survived the accident with severe head and back injuries, her father Ajay Bhagwandas Panjre (45) died on the spot.

According to police, done with their Sunday night drive, Ajay along with his daughter Ishika was heading home on their moped (MH/49/AP/9019). At around 8.30 pm when the father-daughter duo reached Sakkardara flyover a rashly driven Bullet bike (MH/31/EV/0050) dashed them from behind. The impact was so severe that Ajay and Ishika fell on the road side. Though, Ishika survived the mishap with head and back injuries however, her father Ajay succumbed to his injuries on the spot before any medical help could reach to him.

Sakakardara police have booked accused Bullet driver under Sections 279, 337, 338, 304 (A) of the IPC and launched the probe.

Nagpur: Love affair of a cousin brother turned out severe for a 21-year-old youth when girl’s brother and his five friends thrashed him with stones and wooden sticks between the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. The accused also reportedly damaged complainant’s vehicles.

According to police, Shahruk Shaifi a cousin of complainant Imran Islam Shaifi, a resident of Kailash Kirana Galli had a love affair with the accused Firoz’s sister. Firoz was annoyed with the fact that despite warning Shahruk to stop seeing his sister, he was engaged in a love affair with her. Thus, Firoz was in hunt of a chance to settle score with Shahruk.

In the wee hours of Monday, Firoz along with his friends Shoaib Khan, Aashu, Adnan, Shahruk and Imran Khan approached Shaifi residence. However, Shahruk was not home at that time as a result Imran went out to intervene into the matter. Imran was discussing with the matter Firoz, when Firoz attacked him with wooden stick. When Imran resisted, Firoz’s friends used nearby stones and sticks and started beating Imran. Subsequently when nearby neighbours intervened into the matter, all the accused fled the spot leaving Imran soaked in blood.

Based on the complaint lodged by Imaran, Kotwali police have booked accused Firoz and his friends under Sections 324, 143, 147, 148, 149, 427 of the IPC and launched the investigation.

Nagpur: A police team from neighbouring state of Madhya Pradesh has mysteriously arrested two notorious criminals from Ganeshpeth bus stand on Wednesday. However the city police are reportedly clueless about the arrest of these two men who are reportedly based in MP.

However, the matter came to fore the when the city crime branch managed to get their hands on the MP police, informed a source to Nagpur Today.

As per the source, MP police nabbed accused duo from Ganeshpeth bustop. They were carrying a black bag compromising one kilograms of gold, five kilograms of silver and cash Rs 40 lakh, added the source.

When Nagpur Today took matter to senior officials of city police, they denied having any idea about this matter but as per the source, following this information, the sleuths of Crime Branch launched the manhunt for the MP cops along with accused. Soon city cops managed to get their hands on them. Then new angle came to picture, that MP cops was searching for these two criminals for quite some time. Few days back the MP cops had received the tip off that on Wednesday the two criminals will leave for Nagpur, to sell stolen gold and silver. Following which MP cops got to Nagpur on Tuesday, and were waiting for them at Ganeshpeth bus stop. Soon the accused duo got off the bus the MP cops nabbed them and left for MP.

However timely action of city Crime Branch managed to get their hands on them.

Beside the actual worth of the goods in the bag, it is yet to clear that why MP police initiated this drive without informing Nagpur police.

Nagpur: Nandanvan police station has been alleged of its apathy in a case of brutal attack on a youth who died on Wednesday while undergoing treatment in the hospital. The deceased Karan Mehta was attacked by few criminal elements at his house on May 11. His brother Arjun Mehta informed that a case was also registered at Nandanvan police station but no one was arrested in the case.

Holding the cops responsible for the killers moving freely, Arjun alleged that dreaded criminal Shamrao Gaderia, who was also involved in illegal liquor trade had murdered his brother but Nandanvan police did not arrest him as he provide monthly ‘cut’ to the cops.

As Karan breathed his last on Wednesday, his family gathered around the mortuary at Medical hospital where his body was kept for postmortem. Quite a tension prevailed as the deceased’s relatives were fuming with anger to avenge the murder after police turned insensitive to their complaint.

The family also kept waiting for the police to initiate action. However the cops did not arrive till the time of filing the report.

Nagpur: Putting in their hard earned money in a dubious Mahalaxmi Lucky Draw company, proved dearly for several investors who have been collectively duped of Rs 92.33 by two tricksters under Gittikhadan police station. Cops have booked company owner, Dhyaneshwar Nanabhau Metang and company’s collection agent Abhishek Burbure in this connection.

Police sources said the accused Dhyaneshwar was running Mahalaxmi Lucky Draw company without any registration and had lured several investors in Anant Nagar and nearby areas in Gittikhadan, with the false promise of high returns. However, after recovering hefty sums of Rs 92.33 lakh, the accused duo closed their firm and fled the city. Following the incident, Ramlal Balram Kanojiya (59) a resident of Plot. No. Anant Nagar has registered an offence against the accused duo.

Gittikhadan police have booked accused Dyaneshwar and Abhishek under Sections 406, 420, 34 of the IPC and launched the manhunt.

Nagpur: A woman was robbed of her gold mangalsutra worth Rs 20,000 on Tuesday. The complainant was on a regular walk during the night time near Khare Town, when an unidentified bike-borne person snatched away her Magalsutra. The incident took under the jurisdiction of Sitabuldi police.

Done with her dinner, complainant Babita Sanjay Purvey (42) , a resident of A 501, Hareram Residency, 402, Khode Marg, Khare Town went out for a walk on Tuesday night. At around 7.45 pm when Babita was crossing isolated building near Khare Town, an unidentified miscreant approached her on bike and snatched away her gold Magalsutra worth Rs 20,000 before, she could even raised an alarm.

Babita then rushed to Sitabuldi police and lodged a complaint against the unidentified accused.

Cops have booked the miscreant under Section 392 of the IPC and started the probe.

Nagpur: A speeding car knocked a motorcycle borne youth to death late Thursday night. The incident occurred at Kanhan bridge.

The youth, a resident of Kamptee, was returning home from Kanhan after finishing some personal work. While he was passing through Kanhan bridge, a speeding car coming from behind hit him. As a result, the youth along with his bike fell in the river and he died on the spot. The car was also partially damaged in the mishap.

Hundreds of residents gathered on the river bank condemning the authorities for inordinate delay in completing the work of the parallel bridge. They prevented police from taking the bodies to the Government Hospital for post-mortem.

However, the identity of the deceased could not be established so far.

Senior police officers of Nagpur Rural rushed to the spot to pacify the angry mob. Vehicular traffic on the highway was thrown out of gear till midnight. No further details were available till the filing of the report.

Nagpur: Ashok Dhawad, former Congress MLA from South Nagpur, has been booked for the Rs 38.75 crore cooperative bank scam by EOW. Dhawad, was chairman of Navodaya Urban Cooperative Bank at Dhantoli presently under liquidation.

Sixteen other former directors of the bank are also involved in the scam.

The scam came to light when an audit was conducted for financial years 2015-16 and 2016-17.

On Thursday the police’s economic offences wing (EOW) sealed the bank premises. The cops have kept aside 113 documents for further investigation in the R s38 crore cooperative scam. The papers have been sealed and kept in the bank’s premises, said sources.

Nagpur: The officials of Excise department on Friday seized a huge quantity of spirit used for making liquor. The officials raided a place and seized 2,600 litres of spirit stored in 13 barrels, which was used for making country liquor as well as Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL).

Till filing of this report, the Excise department officials were busy at their Cotton Market office completing formalities related to raid.

Premnath Zade caught accepting bribe of Rs 20K

Nagpur: The sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday nabbed Premnath Aatmaram Zade (49), President of Wadi Municipal Council red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 20,000 for releasing the pending dues of a Bedipeth based civil engineer. Zade first demanded Rs 24,000 for clearing the salary of the complainant. However, after rounds of negotiations, the duo settled the deal for Rs 20,000.

According to sources, the 39-year-old complainant was not paid his salary for the past four months by Wadi MC and he was thus, running pillar to post to get it cleared. In the process, he came in contact with accused Zade, who promised to get his pending salary released and in lieu of it demanded Rs 24,000 from the complainant. However, after rounds of negotiation the duo, settled the deal for Rs 20,000.

Subsequently, the Bedipeth based engineer filed a complaint with ACB on Thursday. After preliminary investigation, the sleuths of ACB laid trap on Friday morning in Wadi area. According to the plan when the complainant handed over the bribe amount of Rs 20,000 to Zade, the ACB men hiding nearby pounced upon him and caught him red-handed accepting the bribe.

An offence has been registered against Zade under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigations are on.
