Nagpur: Bajaj Nagar police have booked two men allegedly for attacking a 38-year-old man with a knife at PVK Wine shop on Sunday afternoon. The incident was reportedly fallout of an old rivalry erupted from monetary issues. Based on the statement given by victim Sachin Purushottam Mandalwar, a resident of 196, behind Krims Hospital, Ramdaspeth, Bajaj Nagar police have booked the accused identified as Shrikant Mahadev Raut (38), a resident of Flat No. 219, near Hanuman Mandir, behind Krims Hospital, Ramdaspeth and Prashant Koparde (35), a resident of Kachipura.

According to police sources, Sachin and Shrikant had an old conflict owing to some financial issues. Shrikant would hurl abuses at Sachin in the Ramdaspeth vicinity whenever he come across the accused. On Sunday afternoon, the accused duo were purchasing liquor from Bajaj Nagar based PVK Wine shop.

At around 3 pm, Sachin reportedly approached the wine shop to buy booze. On seeing Sachin, Shrikant reportedly got furious and picked up the quarrel with him. The petty fight soon turned ugly, when Shrikant whipped out knife from him pocket and started attacking Sachin. The accused duo later fled the spot, leaving Sachin lying in the pool of blood.

Bajaj Nagar police have booked the accused Shrikant and Prashant under Sections 307, 34 of the IPC and started the probe.

Con man dupes businessman of Rs 22.50 lakh in Mankapur

Nagpur: A con man lured a businessman with a lucrative contract with a pharmaceutical company and deceived him to the tune of Rs 22.50 lakh in Mankapur police jurisdiction. The accused trickster also threatened to kill the businessman when demanded his money back.

A resident of Flat No. 106, Royal Heights Apartment, Sumit Nagar, Zingabai Takli, Dinesh Sahdevrao Sahare (42), in his complaint told police that he runs a business and owns a shop at Royal Heights Apartment. In July 2019, the accused Mahendra Magan Bhalerao (45), resident of Ward No. 3, near Samaj Bhavan, Gumthala, Kamptee, met Dinesh at his shop. The accused told Dinesh that he knows many high government officials and lured Dinesh with a Rs 2 crore contract of Barak Pharmaceutical Company Pvt Ltd.

The accused further told Dinesh to deposit 10% of amount in accordance with the terms and conditions of tender. Trapping Dinesh with the lucrative contract, the accused Mahendra Bhalerao took Rs 22.50 lakh from him from time to time but no contract was provided to Dinesh. Furthermore, the accused Bhalerao threatened to kill Dinesh when demanded his money back.

Mankapur Assistant PSI Vijay Naik, acting on Dinesh Sahare’s complaint, booked the accused Mahendra Bhalerao under Sections 420, 507 of the IPC and started investigation. No arrest has been made in the case so far.

Nagpur: A dhaba owner was murdered brutally by an unidentified assailant in Deolapar on Nagpur-Jabalpur Highway the wee hours of Tuesday. Cops have mounted a hunt to nab the assailant.

According to reports, a resident of Wadamba, Prakash Balgovind Jaiswal runs a dhaba near Deolapar on Nagpur-Jabalpur Highway. Prakash came to his on Monday night as usual. At that time, apart from Prakash, his two servants and three labourers of nearby brick kiln were present in the dhaba. However, around 4-5 am of Tuesday, Prakash was found murdered by unidentified assailant. His body bore deep stab wounds on cheeks. Blood was splattered all over the place and under the cot as well.

On being informed, a team of cops rushed to the spot and started investigation. A hunt has been mounted to nab the assailant

Nagpur: Acting on tip-off, Social Security Wing of City Crime Branch on Monday night raided a hookah parlour – Ace Cafe — being operated in posh Gokulpeth locality and rounded up Manager and two owners. The raiding cops found that tobacco-laced hookah was being served to clients in the name of herbal hookah at Spades Restaurant & Lounge (Ace Cafe by Spades) situated near Chanduram Bakery in Gokulpeth. Cops seized several hookahs, scented tobacco and other materials in the raids.

The Social Security Wing of City Crime Branch received secret information that banned tobacco-laced hookah was being served to clients in the name of herbal hookah at Spades Restaurant & Lounge in Gokulpeth, coming under Ambazari police jurisdiction. Acting swiftly, a police team raided the place. The three accused were booked under Sections 4A, 21A of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003 (COTPA, 2003) and put under arrest.

The raid was carried out under the guidance of Senior PI Kishore Parvate of Social Security Wing of Crime Branch along with PSI Atul Ingole, Priti Kulmethe, constables Manoj Singh Chauhan, Pravin Fandade, NPCs Praful Bondre, Amit Tripathi, woman police sepoys Seema Baghel, Deepika Danode under the guidance of Additional CP (Crime) Dr Nilesh Bharne, DCP (Detection) Gajanan Rajmane, and ACP Sudhir Nandanwar.

Nagpur: In yet another cyber crime, a young woman was cheated by a miscreant on the pretext of updating PayTM KYC in Imambada police jurisdiction on February 14, 2020.

The complainant, Ruchira Vinit Kalambkar (35), resident of Plot No. 301, B1 Wing, Archana Complex, near Medical College Square, told police that she received a call from mobile phone 7866939985 around 8 pm on February 14, 2020. The caller assured Archana of updating her PayTM KYC from her SBI account. The accused later asked Archana to download KYC app and procured all details of her Debit card. Thereafter, the trickster withdrew Rs 44,000 from Archana’s bank account fraudulently.

Imambada API Mundhe, acting on Archana’s complaint, registered a case against the unidentified miscreant under Sections 419, 420 of the IPC read with Section 66(C)(D) of IT Act and searching for him.

Nagpur: Raging to settle score over old enmity, three goons kidnapped a youth and threatened to kill him after thrashing him severely. The incident took place in Kotwali police area on Tuesday night. No arrest has been made in the case so far.

According to police sources, old feud was running between the complainant Nikhil Mahadeo Dighorikar (23), resident of Garoba Maidan, Old Bagadganj, and the three accused namely Vijay alias Veer Jaiswal (23), Shekh Shabbir and an accomplice. The three accused were planning to settle score with Nikhil.

On Tuesday, around 10 pm, Nikhil was returning home on his two-wheeler (MH-49/AD 4189). Midway between Shani Mandir Lane and Chitnis Wada, the three accused intercepted Nikhil and forced him to sit on their two-wheeler. The accused took Nikhil to a newly-build building and bashed him up with a wooden rafter severely. The accused also threatened to kill Nikhil over old enmity.

Kotwali PSI Kharsan, acting on complaint of Nikhil, booked the three accused under Sections 341, 363, 294, 506(B), 34 of the IPC and probing the matter further. No arrest has been made in this connection so far.

Nagpur: Crime Branch Unit 4 of City Police busted a cockfight betting racket in Lakadganj area and arrested three accused in this connection.

The Crime Branch Unit 4 sleuths received secret information that cockfight is being organised and bets are being accepted at Old Mangalwari, Dhiwarpura behind NMC School, under Lakadganj police jurisdiction.

Acting on a tip-off, the cops raided the spot and seized five cocks and cash. The accused Shailesh Hiralal Karnuke (30), a resident of Dhiwarpura; Khushal Dilip Bandebuche (23), a resident of Juna Bagadganj and Ehsan Khan Kadir Khan(37), a resident of Bangali Panja were arrested by Crime Branch.

The arrest was made by PI Ashok Meshram, ASI Nagorao Ingale and staff including Krupashankar Shukla, Sudhkar Dhandar, Devendra Chavan, Ashish, Baban and Ajay Rode, under the guidance of DCP (Detection) Gajanan Rajmane, ACP Sudhir Nandanpawar.

Nagpur: Yashodhara Nagar police have rounded up a juvenile criminal and recovered a stolen Bullet motorcycle from his possession on Thursday. The accused juvenile was however released after serving him a notice.

A resident of Plot No. 49, Samata Nagar, Santosh Rammanohar Yadav (25) had lodged a complaint with Yashodhara Nagar police saying that his Royal Enfield Bullet bike (MH-49/S 3747) was stolen from Vinoba Bhave Nagar between 12 noon of November 8 and 9, 2019. After registering a case, cops had launched probe.

During investigation, cops received secret information that the juvenile criminal had stolen the Bullet bike and it was kept at his residence. Acting on the information, a team of police reached the house of the accused and deatined him. The stolen bike was also recovered. However, the juvenile criminal was released after serving him a notice.

Nagpur: A special squad of Crime Branch nabbed three chain-snatchers and recovered a gold chain robbed from a woman in Lakadganj police jurisdiction over two years back.

The arrested accused are Sumit Ramesh Waghmare (24), Nikhil alias Damba Manohar Wasnik (22), both residents of Hiwri Nagar, Jaibhim Square. The third accused and the mastermind, Rohan alias Yeda Satish Rangari (25) of Old Bagadganj, near Sheelgandh Boudha Vihar, is already in jail.

The accused had robbed a woman named Meena Ravi Guhikar, resident of Lakadganj, near Gangabai Ghat, of her gold chain worth Rs 35,000. The crime had taken place in Dhiwarpura, Old Mangalwari, on October 24, 2017.

During the trail, cops detained the two accused Sumit Waghmare and Nikhil alias Damba Wasnik from Vathoda village and interrogated them intensely. Both spilled thre beans and informed cops that they along with the third accused Rohan alias Yeda Rangari had snatched Meena Guhikar’s gold chain worth Rs 35,000. The three accused were riding on Rohan’s black Honda Splendor bike during the crime.

The two accused Waghmare and Wasnik were later handed over to Lakadganj police for further action. The third accused and the mastermind Rohan Rangari is already in jail.

The arrest was made by PSI H S Thorat, ASI Rajesh Lohi, constables Afsar Khan Ismail Khan Pathan, Santosh Thakur, NPC Dayashankar Bisandre, sepoys Ramnaresh Pathak and Himanshu Thakur under the guidance of DCP (Detection) Gajanan Rajmane, ACPs Sudhir Nandanwar, Kishore Jadhav and PI Bhanudas Pidurkar.

Girl booked for causing her death by reckless driving in Shantinagar

Nagpur: A young girl, who was killed in an accident, has been booked for rash and negligent driving in Shantinagar.

The deceased has been identified as Shivani Yuvraj Dani (20), resident of Kawrapeth, Shantinagar. According to police sources, on January 28, 2020, around 7 pm, Shivani took a Suzuki Access moped just to see whether she can ride it. However, during the ride, she rammed the moped into a Railway track wall and suffered serious head injury. She was taken to Mayo Hospital where doctors declared Shivani brought dead. At that time, Shantinagar police had registered a case of accidental death and started investigation.

During the probe, cops came to know that despite possessing no licence and no experience in riding a two-wheeler, Shivani drove the Access moped (MH-49/9249) rashly and negligently. As a result, the moped dashed against the Railway line wall leading to her death in the mishap.

Shantinagar Woman PSI Raut, based on probe report submitted by PSI Arun Bakal, booked the deceased Shivani Dani under Sections 279, 338, 304(A) of the IPC read with Sections 3(1), 181, 177, 184 of Motor Vehicles Act.

According to police sources, registration of FIR against the dead person is a routine practice under law. A probe has gathered evidence that the accident occurred due to rash and negligent driving by the deceased. The routine investigation is done in the cases registered against dead persons as it has been done in other cases.

Subsequently, the charge sheet is presented in the trial court and if the deceased is found guilty, the court proceedings are dropped, sources said adding if the dead person is not found at fault and someone else is found guilty during the investigation, an FIR is lodged against that person.

Nagpur: Unidentified burglars targeted three persons at a marriage ceremony and robbed them of gold ornament and cash collectively worth Rs 1.18 lakh in New Kamptee on Sunday night.

One of the complainants, Vinod Fatthuji Lokhande (47), resident of Plot No. 195, behind Manas Mandir, Nari Road, told New Kamptee police that he along with family had gone to Bhatia Lawn, Kamptee Road, for attending a marriage.

Taking advantage of crowded hall, unidentified miscreants stole his wife’s gold mangalsutra worth Rs 1.10 lakh. The burglars also relieved a person named Pande of mobile phone worth Rs 5000 and stole Rs 3000 cash from pocket of Niraj Nikose.

Acting on complaint of Lokhande, New Kamptee PSI Kandekar has registered a case under Section 379 of the IPC and searching for the unidentified burglars.

Nagpur: A squad of Ganeshpeth police tracked and nabbed a man who had decamped with Rs 8.55 lakh cash after withdrawing it from his employer’s bank account. The accused was hiding in Lucknow city in Uttar Pradesh since August, 2019 by changing his identity.

According to police sources, the complainant Afzal Abubakar Mittha (42), resident of Flat No. 802, Empress Residency Building, near Shukrawari Lake, had given his accused servant named Rajkumar Shantilal Gupta alias Hemant Shantilal Goyal (53) a cheque for withdrawing Rs 8.55 lakh from his HDFC Bank account on August 19, 2019. The accused, who was native of Ram Tekdi, Hadapsar, Pune, went to the bank, withdrew Rs 8.55 lakh from bank account but gobbled up the money for himself instead handing it over to Afzal. The accused since then went absconding. Ganeshpeth police at that registered a case and were on the trail of accused Rajkumar Shantilal Gupta alias Hemant Shantilal Goyal.

During the painstaking investigation, cops received information that the accused servant was hiding in Lucknow, UP, and was staying as tenant in house of Vinodkumar Shrivastava at 11/32A, Rajajipuram, Tal Katora, Lucknow. Acting on the information, a squad of Ganeshpeth police reached Lucknow and after tracking the accused, nabbed him successfully. The accused had spent the money lavishly on purchase of various valuables. Cops have recovered gold ornaments, costly mobile phone, wrist watch, all purchased from stolen money, and cash Rs 40,000. The collective value of seizure is Rs 4.95 lakh.

The arrest was made by Senior PI S S Kumre, PI V R Jadhav, API R S Mulani, ASI Rehmat Sheikh, constables Pankaj Borate, Santosh Tekam, NPCs Sunil Gujar, Chandu Thakre, Sharad Chambhare under the guidance of DCP Zone 3, Rahul Maknikar, and ACP Pardeshi.

Nagpur: In a shocking incident, a teenage boy stoned his grandmother to death over a domestic fracas in Gittikhadan police area in the dead of Tuesday night. The accused has been arrested.

The deceased has been identified as Raulabai Ramdas Ganvir (70), resident of Manavata Nagar Slums, near TV Tower coming under Gittikhadan police jurisdiction. Raulabai used to scold her grandson named Lucky Sundar Ganvir (20) for frequently beating granddaughter Nikita. The scolding did not go down well with the accused Lucky and he was waiting for opportunity to settle score with his grandmother.

On Tuesday between 0030 hours and 0100 hours, when Raulabai was sleeping, Lucky hit her on her head with a heavy stone and killed her on the spot.

Gittikhadan API Kokde, based on a complaint lodged by Sarita Sundar Ganvir (45), booked the accused Lucky Ganvir under Section 302 of the IPC and arrested him. Further probe is underway.

Nagpur: To mark the “International Women’s Day” the office of City Police Commissioner has launched a special programme for females — Woman Complaint Day — by giving them access directly to the Deputy Commissioners of the respective zones along with Assistant Commissioner of Police and Police Inspectors regarding the problems faced by woman and girls. The special programme will be organized on every second and fourth Tuesday between 11 am and 2 pm.

The innovative move has been conceptualized by Commissioner of Police, Dr Bhushan Kumar Upadhyay. The move seeks to restore the sense of safety among woman and their sign of belief on Nagpur Police.

With several initiatives in past like Bharosa Cell, Damini Pathak, Buddy Cops, Home Drop, Care, Student Police, the Nagpur Police have always been on their toes to adopt and executive new technique to reach out citizens specially the females.

RPF unearths e-ticket racket in Nagpur, 11 agents arrested

Nagpur: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has unearthed an organised gang involved in e-ticketing racket and arrested 11 agents. 101 e-tickets worth over Rs 1.50 lakh have been seized from their possession. The gang had created parallel IRCTC website in the name of ANMS and Red Mirchi and black marketing the railway tickets.

In the two-day drive, RPF has raided offices of 80 authorised agents in Nagpur. 12 cases were registered and 11 dalals (agents) were rounded up. All these agents were IRCTC-registered agents. But 11 of the agents had created an Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) agent ID to book an e-ticket. Due to the illegal booking of tickets, the Indian Railways incurred losses running in several crores.

The accused took Rs 200-500 extra from each passengers, according to investigation. 11 agents have been arretsed and 101 e-tickets worth over Rs 1.50 lakh have been seized from their possession.

The special drive was undertaken under the guidance of SECR’s Divisional Security Commissioner Ashutosh Pandey by RPF Inspectors Anil Patil, H R Yadav, Rajiv Kumar, Vikas Kumar, S Dutta, Sub-Inspectors CKP Tembhurnekar, P L Jumde, Usha Bisen, Mohd Mugishuddin, M B Shahu.

The arrested dalals include Mohd Mustafa Sheikh Mehboob (Uppalwadi), Gaurav Kavatiya (Nandanvan), Chetan Girhepunje (Bhandara), Nareshkumar Laghani, Ashfaq Khan Manoj Alone, Ganesh Suryavanshi, Mayur Gajbhiye (All Chhindwara), Sanjaypratap Singh (Seoni), Akshay Kumar (Mandla) and Kishore Kumar (Ragnandgaon).

According to RPF, those arrested in this connection had hacked the railway website and forged its ticket booking software to book e-tickets. According to Railway officials, it takes two minutes to book one ticket and if the counter is open at 11 am, within 10 to 15 seconds, the accused used to book nearly 150 to 200 tickets. During the operation, the RPF also seized software for creating fake Aadhar and PAN cards and other government documents.

Nagpur: Acting on tip-off, the Social Security Branch (SSB) of city police raided Gorgeous Beauty Salon at k-sera-sera shopping mall situated at Jayanti Nagari-V and unearthed a sex racket being operated by a woman pimp. The accused woman has been arrested and a victim girl has been rescued by the raiding cops.

The SSB sleuths received information that a woman named Manisha Tukaram Karde alias Muskan Arvind Bharti (31), resident of Qtr No. 1, B-212, Ward No. 1, Vaigaon Ghoturli, WCL, Umred, was luring needy young girls with money and dragging them into flesh trade. Subsequently, cops sent a decoy customer and after confirmation, raided Gorgeous Beauty Salon at k-sera-sera shopping mall at Jayanti Nagari-V. The raiding sleuths arrested the accused Manisha Karde alias Muskan Bharti and also rescued a young girl who was lured by the accused and forced into flesh trade.

An offence was registered with Beltarodi Police Station and the arrested accused was booked under Sections 3, 4, 5, 7 of Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act. Further probe is underway.

Nagpur: Booty worth Rs 6.20 lakh stolen in two-house-breaking incidents in Pratap Nagar and Gittikhadan police areas. The thefts took place when the house owners, both senior citizens, had gone out of station.

In the first incident, the complainant Arun Jairam Akhuj (72), resident of Plot No. 206, Priyadarshini Nagar, Trimurti Nagar, along with family had gone to Hinganghat on March 4 for attending a marriage. Between March 4 and 6, unidentified miscreants broke open lock of main door and decamped with gold-silver ornaments worth Rs 3.33 lakh and cash Rs 15,000 kept in steel almirah at Arun’s bedroom.

Pratap Nagar PSI Kendre, based on Arun Akhuj’s compliant, registered a case under Sections 454, 457, 380 of the IPC and searching for the burglars.

Similarly, a resident of Plot No. 88, Gulshan Colony, Gittikhadan, Vidya Ratan Puri (83) had gone to her son’s place in Mumbai on February 25. However, when Vidya returned to Nagpur on March 5 morning, she found latch of main door broken. On inspection, she found gold ornaments, two toy pistols, 3 bashmina shawls, one Titan watch, DVR, cash Rs 50,000 stolen by unidentified miscreants. The collective of staolen valuables is Rs 2.70 lakh.

Gittikhadan PSI M J Rathod, acting Vidya’s complaint, booked the unidentified burglars under Sections 454, 457, 380 of the IPC and searching for them.

Nagpur: In a shocking incident, a juvenile boy raped a 16-year old girl frequently on the pretext of marrying her. The accused has also been booked under Atrocities Act apart from rape charges.

The 17-year old juvenile accused, resident of Yashodhara Nagar in Nagpur, was in love with the victim 1-year old girl, resident of Prabuddha Nagar coming under New Kamptee police jurisdiction. The accused lured the girl with marriage promise and exploited her sexually at her home frequently.

According to police sources, since the financial condition of her parents was not good, the girl left school three years ago and used to work in a China Sale Shop at Kirana Oli in Kamptee. The accused worked in Jai Kitchenware in Kamptee also. After friendship, both the girl and the accused were in love affairs. Later the accused lured the girl with marriage promises and established physical relationship with her whenever she was alone in house. The heinous crime came to the fore when the girl became pregnant. As her parents came to know about this, they lodged a complaint with New Kamptee Police Station.

Cops have registered a case under relevant sections of IPC as well as Atrocities Act. Further probe is underway.

Nagpur: Four persons have been arrested for allegedly killing their 55-year-old neighbour on suspicion of practicing black magic in Nagpur district, police said on Sunday.

The incident occurred on Saturday in Kuhi tehsil, about 40 kms away from Nagpur, when the accused caught hold of the victim, Vidhyadhar Rangari, and attacked him with iron rods, a police officer said.

Police said that the accused suspected that ‘black magic’ practiced by Rangari was responsible for ill-health of their relative.

They have been identified as Purushottam Bhujade (32), Devendra alias Doma Bhujade (29), Dharmendra Bhujade (25), and Shridhar Bhujade (34), he said.

All of them have been booked on the charge of murder under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and under the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013.

A local court remanded them in the custody of police for five days on Saturday.

Nagpur: A 24-year-old man was arrested on Monday for allegedly killing his elder brother following an argument over domestic issues in Wathoda on Sunday night.

The accused, Shubham Gurudev Jaiswal, along with his couple of accomplices, allegedly stabbed to death his brother Vicky in their house Plot. No. 99, Abumiya Nagar, Bhandewadi.

Shubham had reportedly picked up a quarrel with Vicky on Sunday night. Following which Shubham left home and came back with his friends. The accused then picked up a knife and stabbed his brother, causing his death.

On being informed, Wathoda police rushed to spot and sent body to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH) for autopsy.

Wathoda police have rounded up accused Shubham on the charges of murder and lunched the manhunt his accomplices.
