Nagpur: Sleuths of Crime Branch Unit 4 on Sunday nabbed the third accused involved in the case of firing at a brother of a policeman in Dighori area of Sakkardara police station. This is the third arrest made by the police in this case so far.

The arrested accused have been identified as Refique Khan Babu Khan (36), Abdul Shahabaz Abdul Razzak (26), both residents of Harpur Nagar, Nandanvan and Shahjeb Khan alias Dhawan. Rafique and Abdul were arrested by the police on Saturday night while Shahjeb was arrested on Sunday morning for firing shots at Imran Siddhiqui Sadru Jamal Siddiqui (32), a resident of Bada Tajbagh on Saturday evening at Chamat Chakki Chowk in Dighori area. Imran Siddiqui was hit by four bullets — three bullets hit his leg while another hit his abdomen.

The attack was fall out of old rivalry between Siddiqui and three accused. Siddiqui, a resident of Thakur Plot, is also having several offences against him. He had attacked Rafique and Shahbaj last year with a sword. Hence, the duo wanted to avenge the attack, the police said. Siddiqui is working as automobile dealer. The firing took place when Siddiqui was talking with one Bunty Bhai and his friend Gulam Ali alias Raja at Chamat Chakki square at around 5.30 pm on Saturday. The accused came at the square on an Activa scooter. After parking the vehicle at some distance from Siddiqui, the assailants slowly approached Siddiqui from behind and opened fire at him.

Shocked after first bullet hit his stomach, Siddiqui tried to escape from the spot. But the two continued with shooting, leaving no chance for Siddiqui to react in any way. Within 10 seconds, three more bullets were fired at Siddiqui which pierced through his leg at the busy square. The assailants managed to flee the spot on their scooter with Abid, the police said. Profusely bleeding Siddiqui was admitted at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) by his friends.

The accused were immediately arrested by the team of Crime Branch and booked by Sakkardara police under various Sections of Indian Penal Code and Indian Arms Act. A police official said that four empty cartridges from the spot, while a pistol with 11 live cartridges and an Activa scooter were seized by the police.

The arrest was made under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police Nilesh Bharne, DCP (Detection) Gajanan Rajmane, ACP Sudhir Nandanwar by PI Ashok Meshram, APIs Kiran Chaugule, Dilip Chandan, PSI Purshottam, Assistant PSIs Ramesh Umathe, Battulal Pandey, Nagorao Ingle and other staff including Krupashankar Shukla, Ajaysingh Baghel, Ajay Rode, Devendra Chavan, Ajay Rode, Devendra Chavan, Sudhakar Dhandar, Nitin Akote, Ashish Kshirsagar, Sachin Tumsare, Baban Raut, Prashant Kodape, Avinash Thakur, Suraj Bhongade, Suhas Shingne, Ashish Patil, driver Rajendra Tiwari, Deepak Zade.

Four women were looted of gold chains at knife-point on January 23, 24, 25, 2020

Nagpur: In a major breakthrough, Crime Branch Unit 4 of city police have succeeded in nabbing one of the 3-member gang who had robbed four women of gold chains at knife-point in Nandanvan, Sakkardara, Hudkeshwar and Pardi police jurisdictions on January 23, 24, 25, 2020. All the four victims were on morning walk and the bike-borne gang snatched their gold chains in looting spree.

In two of the incidents, the accused even stabbed two women before robbing them of their ornaments.

The breakthrough came when cops were probing a case in which a 63-year old woman Baby Ramdhan Rathod, resident of Plot No. 39/B, Ishwar Nagar, behind Jattewar Hall, was on morning walk on January 24 and was looted of gold ornaments, mobile and cash collectively worth Rs 34,200 at knife-point by unidentified goons.

During the investigation, the Crime Branch Unit 4 minutely studied the crime spots and procured numbers of thousands of mobile phones. The suspected numbers were noted down and trailed. Cops came to know that the mobile numbers hailed from Tamilnadu. Subsequently, a team was sent to Tamilnadu and the accused were searched for six days. Furthermore, cops stumbled upon information that one of the accused named Rahul Mallesh Armulla (23) was a notorious criminal active in Chandrapur and was currently in Chandrapur Jail.

He was detained under production warrant and subjected to intense interrogation. Following the grilling, accused Rahul Armulla spilled the beans and named his two other accomplices Murli Parshuraman (28), native of Thenimalai, Tiruannamalai (TN) and Rakesh Subramanyam Sanipati (29), native of Dispensary Square, near Telugu School, Chandrapur. The gang had stolen a two-wheeler and then went on looting spree. Four woman were robbed gold chains and other valuables at knife-point Nandanvan, Sakkardara, Hudkeshwar and Pardi police jurisdictions on January 23, 24, 25, 2020. Cops have seized gold ornaments and stolen two-wheeler from the arrested accused.

Cops have mounted a hunt to nab the other two members of the gang.

Nagpur: A domestic help working at the house of Maharashtra Cabinet minister Sunil Kedar in Nagpur has been booked for allegedly stealing Rs 3,000, police said on Monday.

The accused, a resident of Hingna near here, allegedly stole Rs 3000 from the purse of the minister’s wife on Saturday.

She has been working as the domestic help with the Kedars since the last two years, a police official said.

Nagpur: Sadar police have booked two officials of Gittikhadan based travel firm – Take Me Away Tour and Travels – allegedly for duping several investors using ponzi schemes between April 2016 and November 2018. The accused identified as Harpreetsingh alias Chintu Gurmeetsingh Alagh and Manpreetsingh alias Binny Gurmeetsingh Alagh, both residents of Pachpaoli had reportedly lured gullible investors on the pretext of investing money in Virtual Contribution Scheme and promised hefty returns through lucky draws.

Preliminary investigation unearthed the fraud to the tune of Rs 15 crores.

The fraud came to light after complainant Harvindersingh Iqbalsingh Narula (49), a resident of Flat No. 20 Clarke Town, Kadbi Chowk approached Sadar police station and filed a complaint against the accused duo.

According to police sources, Alagh brothers had approached Narula with a ponzi scheme back in 2016. The duo sought investments from Narula by luring him with whooping returns. Over the time, Narula paid Rs 8,20,000 to the accused duo however, never received a single penny. Following which Narula approached the Alang brothers seeking his money back, but in vain. With no options at sight, Narula then approached Sadar police station and lodged a complaint.

Sadar police have booked the Alang brothers under Sections 406, 409, 420 of the IPC and started the probe.

Nagpur: The DB Squad of Tehsil police on Wednesday arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly stealing a 500-year old Paduka of Kolabswami Ji besides other goods made of brass from Golibar Chowk-based temple. The name of the accused was given as Salim Javed Mohammad Haneef, resident of Kabristan Road, Bhankheda.

Tehsil police on Tuesday morning received a complaint about the stolen goods. Acting swiftly, the DB Squad of Tehsil police comprising Senior PI Ajay Kumar Malviya, PI Dilip Sagar, API S B Wagh along with Constables Sameer Sheikh, Nazir Sheikh, Hemnat Parate, Sachin Nitvane and Praveen Langde started the probe into matter.

Following the assistance of CCTV footage and secret inputs, cops zeroed on the accused Salim Javed who was hiding beneath the Ram Jhula. Cops surrounded the accused and brought to police station for interrogation. He later confessed the crime following which the cops recovered the stolen goods worth Rs 5000.

The accused Salim has been booked under Section 379 of the IPC and placed under arrest.

Nagpur: Wadi police have booked a 20-year-old youth and his accomplices allegedly for abetting the suicide of a 16-year-old girl, who hanged herself at her home on February 16. An FIR was lodged against him under Sections 306, 201, 34 of the IPC on the basis of the statement by the girl’s father.

Cops have booked accused Rohit Ghanshyam Pardhi, a resident of Navneet Nagar, Wadi and his accomplices for reportedly torturing and thrashing the deceased girl. Though, arrest made so far.

According to police sources, the accused had befriended the girl, a class XI student of Kendriya Vidyalaya. Following the friendship, Rohit used to forbid the girl from taking part in the school’s extracurricular activities and other events. The girl would face constant harassment over such restrictions at the hands of accused Rohit. He had even threatened her and would beat her couple of times with his friends. Annoyed of prolonged physical and mental torture, the girl took the drastic step.

Nagpur: If you wish to go to a roof top restaurant this weekend, perhaps, you should be more careful than ever. The Fire Department of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has issued notices to the prominent roof top restaurants across the city for not paying heed to the norms set by the department of insuring adequate safety measures at their establishments. Hingna T-point based Aangan Gajali Restaurant faced stern action at the hands of administration on Friday, itself, for not complying with fire safety norms in their establishment.

“The action will be taken against more pubs and bars, if found violating safety norms,” informed Rajendra Uchake, Chief Fire Officer to Nagpur Today and mentioned “In case of any untoward incident at such places, it becomes very difficult to evacuate people during fire emergencies.”

“The orders have been issued against the rooftop rubs and bars who have violated fire safety norms and have not bothered to adhere to rules despite being warned many times. Fire officials of Narendra Nagar, Civil Lines, Cotton Market, Sugat Nagar and Trimurti Nagar teams will be re-evaluating all the roof-top pubs, to see if they have complied with the norms. Action will be taken depending on compliance, and their reasons for the shortcomings,” said the CFO.

“Fire officials have conducted many drives and sent out many notices to pubs and bars who were violating the safety norms but only few turned up and got the clearances. We had sent several notices asking them to meet the fire safety standards. Since they failed to do so, we are taking action against them,” Uchake asserted.

In the recent meeting, with Municipal Commissioner, Tukaram Munde, the Fire Department submitted a comprehensive list of pubs and bar which had violated fire safety norms posing severe threat to the customer visiting the place and also the vicinity.

Nagpur: In a significant action against the smuggling of liquors from the city, the sleuths of State Excise Department on Friday arrested two men porting illicit liquor to Gadchiroli. Besides, seizing the vehicle cops recovered liquor worth Rs 78,000.

The accused have been identified as Sandeep Narayan Kove, a resident of Godhani and Manish Pramod Pargidwar, a resident of Mohan Nagar.

As per the details, the squad of Excise officials received a tip-off that a Honda car (MH/31/BB/5111) carrying illegal liquor was reportedly heading to Gadchiroli. Acting swiftly on the inputs the squad comprising Sub-Inspector, Dilip Badwaik, ASI Prashant Yerpude, Jawans Rahul Pawar, Sonali Khandekar laid a trap near Garib Nawaz Chowk in Kharabi and nabbed the accused.

The action was conducted under the supervision of Excise Superintendent, Promod Sonone.

Nagpur: A gang war erupted in Bengali Panja area of Tehsil police station area on Sunday night over old rivalry. The goons ransacked more than 15 vehciles and fired a shot at a person and injured another person by stabbing him in the stomach. A large number of police personnel were deployed in the area after the incident. A police official informed that one Mohsin was suffered injured after he was stabbed by a local goon with sharp-weapon. The gangs having old-rivalry over establishing their supremacy in the area. The groups clashed on Sunday late night in Bangali Panja area with hockey sticks and swords in the hands. During the clash, the goons ransacked vehicles parked on the roadside.

Staff of Tehsil police station rushed to the spot after receiving information from the controll room. The attackers managed to flee the spot when the police arrived at the crime scene. A police official of Tehsil police station informed that the residents informed them that one goon had fired a shot at his rival. However, there is no evidence of firing at the spot, he said.

The vehicles were badly damaged with the hockey sticks. “We are questioning the residents to get the names of the accused persons involved in the attack,” he said. The police are also checking CCTV footage to identify the registration number of the vehicles which moved from the spot after committing the crime. Sources claimed that more than 30 persons were involved in the attack. There was panic among the residents and passersby after the attack and they fled for the life.

The area is known for the anti-social activities where many labourers from other stated are living. An offence would be registered under provisions of Indian Penal Code and Indian Arms Act against both parties, said the police official.

Pune/Nagpur: An aspiring actress alleged rape in a Pune hotel after being lured to Pune by a woman on promise of a role in a TV serial. The Airport police registered an offense against the two men accused, and also booked the woman who lured her under the charges of abetment. According to reports that the two men were from Nagpur and on Saturday, an offense was registered against them on the charge of raping her under the pretext of giving her a role in a TV serial.

As per the reports, Mumbai-based woman had lured the complainant (28) promising her a role and brought her to Pune. The complainant said that the three of them assaulted her with a beer bottle when she opposed the two men’s advances in a hotel room in Vimannagar, Pune, on February 9. In her complaint, she also mentioned that the men threatened to kill her and she went to Mumbai. She lodged an FIR on March 14, after getting medical treatment.

The complainant had met the suspected woman in January in a mall in Mumbai, and the woman told her that she knew a producer and director and would help her bag a role in a TV serial. An officer from the Airport police told news media, “She had told the complainant that she knew a producer and director. The woman told the complainant that the duo were in Pune and that she should meet them.”

The officer further stated that it was on February 8 that both women came to Pune and stayed in the hotel room which they both shared. On the same day, the two men posing as director and producer interviewed her and assured her of a role. Later the two men came to the complainant’s room and drank beer with the woman. “The woman said the duo demanded favours from her for the role. When she denied their offer, all three assaulted her,” the officer said.

Nagpur: Kotwali police have rounded up a 47-year-old man allegedly for assaulting his younger brother with iron rod in Rahetkar Wadi, Tulshinagh area on Monday.

The accused has been identified as Suresh Ramoji Takode.

According to police sources, the accused Suresh was spreading rumors about the characters of the wife of niece of his younger brother, Amar. When Amar got to know about the rumor, he reportedly approached Suresh’s resident located in same vicinity. The duo shared heated argument before indulging in verbal abuse. The fight soon took bloody turn after Suresh reportedly picked up iron rod and started laughing brutal blows on Amar.

With severe head and back injures, Amar was then rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Based on the statement given by Amar, Kotwali police then booked accused Suresh under Section 326 of the IPC and placed him under arrest.

Nagpur: A case was registered on Tuesday against an unidentified person for spreading fake news through Whatsapp about finding a novel coronavirus patient in Pathri village in Maharashtra”s Bhandara district, an official said.

The case has been registered under the Disaster Management Act of 2005 and section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code, said Gajendra Balpande, tehsildar of Tumsar.

The tehsildar said a police complaint was lodged after he received a WhatsApp message on his cellphone with an edited screenshot of a television channel news item that falsely claimed a Covid-9 patient had been found in Pathri village in Tumsar tehsil.

Gobarwahi police are taking help of the cyber cell to track down the accused, an official said.

Nagpur: Irked over his application of clearing encroachment at Bhande Chowk, under Sakkardara police station a middle aged man reportedly launched a murderous attack on 35-year-old doctor with a sword on Wednesday afternoon.

Based on the statement given by Dr. Nitin Laxmanrao Gundakwar, a resident of Shatabdi Chowk, cops have booked
accused identified as Shiek Noor Wald Shiek Pyaru (50), a resident of Bhande Plot premises under Sections 307, 506 of the IPC and Sections 4+25 of Indian Arms Act.

According to police sources, Dr. Gundakwar had filed a application with Encroachment Department regarding a shop in front of his hospital located in Laxmi Complex at Bhande Plot Chowk, belonged to one Sheik Noor.

Following which the sleuths of Anti-Encroachment Department razed the illegal structure. Irked over which Shiek reportedly intercepted the victim on Wednesday afternoon and assaulted with sword. Leaving him lying in the pool of blood he then fled the spot. Dr. Gundakwar was later rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) under critical condition.

Nagpur: Sadar police have rounded up a group of bookies allegedly for demanding ransom worth Rs 2.37 crore on March 17, Tuesday night.

In his complaint Hrudhayraj Joseph Alexander (35), a resident of Suraksha Apartment, Amravati Road told Sadar police that, he was at his Property Beer Bar office, Residency Road when accused identified as Vicky Wadhwani, a resident of Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, Rahul alias Yogu, Immanuel alias Aarif alias Bhurya, both residents of Jaripatka, Vilas Patil, Swapnil Salunke, both residents of Tiranga Chowk, Sakkardara stormed inside his office.

The accused reportedly abducted him, between 10 and 11 pm and were seeking Rs 2.37 crore for ensuring his safe release. However, when Alexander couldn’t arranged the money, the accused left before dolling out life threats to the complainant.

Based on the complaint lodged by Alexander, Sadar police have booked all the accused under Sections 387,452,506,120(B) of the IPC and started the probe.

Nagpur: Tightening noose over the frivolous elements spreading rumors about inflated Coronavirus patients in Nagpur, the city cyber cell has arrested three people who had created and made viral a fake audio clip stating ’59 positive cases’ existing in Nagpur.

The clip had triggered widespread panic across the nation. Police said the culprits, including a businessman owning clubs in city, had made the audio file on March 23 from north Nagpur and later forwarded to their friend to create a scare among the children in their family and also others in the city.

The central government, through Press information bureau (PIB), had to issue a clarification across the nation stating the audio was fake and not to believe in the content.

This case now comes with landmark detection by cyber cell which managed to crack the mystery by zeroing down upon three culprits, Jay Gupta (37), Amit Pardhi (38) and Divyanshu Mishra (33), who were placed under arrest in the early hours of Friday. City police had registered the case against unidentified persons at Sadar police station around a day ago after the clip went viral triggering fear and panic across India. The conversation in the clip was between Gupta and Pardhi.

The 4.52 minute clip had also mentioned about 200 more suspected were present in the city. It had also referred to one Dr Kamlesh stating he was on ventilator after being tested positive. The clip had also mentioned a name ‘Nitin’ which many felt was a highly placed politician from Vidarbha currently at the helm of affairs in the fight against Covid-19.

Cyber cell team of Asst PIs Vishal Mane, Keshav Wagh and Ashwini Jagtap, under DCP Shweta Khedkar, Addl CP, crime, Nilesh Bharne, working under Joint CP Ravindra Kadam and CP BK Upadhyay, first managed to zero down on the woman whom Mishra’s wife had forwarded and later nabbed the rest.

Around 35 people were interrogated thoroughly by the cyber cell before managing to crack the case. Several people were called and rounded up by the cyber team working round the clock in the last couple of days.

Nagpur Cyber Cell arrested 3 person for Fake audio clip

Mumbai/Nagpur: Maharashtra Police”s cyber unit has registered 36 FIRs across the state against those spreading fake news about coronavirus on social media.

State Home Minister Anil Deshmukh recently instructed the police and cyber cell to initiate strict action against rumour-mongers and those circulating fake news about coronavirus, so as to prevent fear among people about the pandemic.

As per the official figures, 20 FIRs have been registered for spreading fake news on WhatsApp, three for posting wrong information on Facebook, two for fake posts on Twitter and one against a Tik Tok user.

Besides, 10 cases have been registered against users of other platforms.

The FIRs were registered after several complaints were received from citizens, Superintendent of Police, Maharashtra Cyber, Balsingh Rajput said.

“These FIRs were particularly registered for spreading face news about coronavirus by rumour-mongers,” he said.

Of the total FIRs, five each were registered by cyber police in Beed and Satara, four in Kolhapur, three each in Bhandara, Gondia and Nanded, two each in Pune rural, Ratnagiri and Solapur rural, and one each in Nagpur city, Akola, Chandrapur, Wardha, Solapur, Nashik rural and Sangli.

In an advisory issued to all police units recently, cyber unit”s Inspector General of Police Dilip Pandharpatte said, “Malicious elements are spreading fake news and vicious rumours regarding COVID-19 pandemic on on-line communication platforms including channels, internet and social media, causing panic and disturbing the public order in the state.”

It is the duty of every citizen to be responsible about what they share on social media, he added.

Nagpur: In two incidents of assault a 27-year-old man in Ganeshpeth and a 31-year-old in Kamptee was thrashed by iron rods and sharp edged weapons by group of men. Following the complaints of victims, both Ganeshpeth and New Kamptee police have booked the accused under relevant Sections of IPC.

In first incident, Shailesh Krushnaji Ughade, a resident of Navi Shukrawari, Ramajichi Wadi was hanging out in the neighbourhood on Wednesday night. At around 11:30 pm, the accused identified as Bunty Kalbe, a resident of Ram Cooler Chowk, Arpit Zade, a resident of Somalwari Quarters, Ankit Bokde, a resident of Tandapeth, Andirya Deepak Kothiwal, a resident of Chota Tajbagh and Harshal Mandle, a resident of Ram Cooler Chowk barged inside Ramajichi Wadi with sharp edge weapons. The accused reportedly started hitting blows on Shailesh and leaving him lying in the pool of blood the accused fled the spot.
Following which some residents alerted Ganeshpeth police and rushed Shailesh to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
Based on the statement given by victim, Ganeshpeth Police have booked all the accused under Sections 307,143,147,148,149,188 of the IPC and Sections 4,25 of the Indian Arms act and started the probe.

In similar turn of events, one, Eknath Shriram Sayam, a resident of Shirpur was hacked by accused Rahul Ramsey Ughade and his accomplices over old dispute on March 30. The accused reportedly thrashed the victim with iron and wooden rods. Following the complaint of Eknath, 31, New Kamptee Police have booked the accused under Sections 326,504,452,34 of the IPC and started the investigation.
