Nagpur: The prestigious CP Club, Nagpur, has once again made headlines for an alleged brawl involving a non-member. According to sources, a club member identified as JP was reportedly assaulted by a non-member on Sunday afternoon. The incident, which took place within the club premises, was reported to the Sadar police station, where an investigation is now underway.

Amid the high drama, a non cognisable offence has been registered at Sadar Police station followed by the preventive action against the accused, whom the Police Inspector at Sadar Police station Manish Thakre termed as non-applicant. “In our power we have registered a non-cognisable offence against the attacker, who happens to be the relative of the victim”, Thakre told Nagpur Today.

PI Thakre informed that preventive action has been taken against the person under the sections 323, 504, 506 BNS. “We have asked the applicant to move the court, however the decision lies with them”, he told NT.

This is not the first time such an incident has occurred at the club. A few years ago, a similar altercation broke out when a guest of a club member was involved in a ruckus. Following that incident, the membership of the member who introduced the guest was suspended pending inquiry. However, in a tragic turn of events, the said member later passed away, and no verdict has been reached in that case to date.

With yet another violent episode at the club, questions are being raised about security measures and guest policies at CP Club. The management and authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the latest incident.

Pratap Nagar Police have registered a case against Rahul Nareshchandra Khabiya, also known as Jain, a resident of Nalawade Layout, based on a complaint by Jayant Vasantrao Palkar (49), owner of Shri Saptashrungi Jewellers in Trimurti Nagar.

Nagpur: Shocking details have now come to light after Bajaj Nagar Police in Nagpur arrested Shantkumar Ramchandra (30), a five-star hotel chef in the city, for performing obscene acts in front of girls on Jail Road. The court has sent him to jail.

Shantkumar, who is reportedly mentally unstable, had been doing similar acts on Wardha Road for the past month. After his video and news went viral on social media, five more girls filed complaints against him at Beltarodi Police Station.

According to police, Shantkumar is from Gulbarga, Karnataka, and had been working as a kitchen manager at a five star hotel in Nagpur, for six months. Two days ago, he parked his car in front of Central Jail on Wardha Road and started performing sexual act in front of girls sitting nearby. Despite their objections, he continued his actions. Finally, a girl recorded a video and called the police, but Shantkumar fled in his car.

After the video went viral, Bajaj Nagar police arrested him from the hotel. Following the news of his arrest, five more girls came forward at Beltarodi Police Station. These girls, who work in a pharma company in MIHAN, revealed that Shantkumar had been doing similar lewd acts outside Khapri Metro Station every day for the past month. They were too scared to complain earlier.

Beltarodi Police Station incharge Mukund Kavade took the matter seriously and registered a case against him. The accused is currently in jail, but Beltarodi police will take him into custody again with a court order. The police have urged other victims to come forward without fear. They assured strict action against him. Shantkumar is married but has disputes with his wife. Police suspect his mental instability is the reason behind his actions. They will also contact his family for further investigation.

According to another report, the five-star hotel chef is learnt to have first indulged in the vulgar act before a 21-year-old Mihan employee at New Airport Mahametro station’s parking space at 7:46 pm.

He then headed towards Wardha Road to repeat the act, only to get captured on the cell phone of a woman 45 minutes later, leading to his arrest. Beltarodi police have now registered a second case against Shantkumar, a resident of Karnataka, following the fresh complaint by the Mihan employee.

Sources stated the accused was stalking and harassing the Mihan employee since February 3 on the pretext of seeking route directions. After enduring his nuisance for a month, the woman and her brother approached the Mahametro guard shortly after the incident on March 9, who, in turn, reported the matter to Sonegaon police. Sources said, Shantkumar may also be involved in flashing before a group of girls on a desolate road near New Airport Metro station a couple of months ago. Mahametro authorities deployed a guard after the girls raised an alarm.

“A CCTV captured the flasher some months ago near New Airport Metro station riding a scooter. His moustache was prominent in the footage. Physical appearance and modus operandi of the man matched that of Shantkumar,” said a security source of Mahametro.

Nagpur’s Unchecked Event Chaos: Who is Responsible for the FLD Holi Disaster?

$
0
0

Nagpur: Nagpur is once again in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. A Holi event at Hotel FLD Restaurant and Resort turned into chaos as an unruly crowd spiraled out of control, forcing the police to intervene with a mild lathi charge. The disturbing scenes of disorder and panic have reignited urgent concerns: Is Nagpur becoming a breeding ground for unregulated, unsafe events? Why are authorities failing to curb these recurring lapses in event management?

Holi Event or Public Safety Nightmare?

What was meant to be a lively festival quickly turned into mayhem due to an uncontrollable surge in attendance. Witnesses reported that the number of attendees far exceeded the expected turnout, overwhelming event organizers. Fights broke out, security measures collapsed, and law enforcement had to step in. Disturbing videos of the incident have flooded social media, sparking outrage and questions about accountability.

Hotel FLD’s Role: Negligence or Mere Venue Partner?

Hotel FLD Restaurant and Resort has categorically denied responsibility, claiming that it merely provided the venue and facilities while crowd management and permissions were the sole responsibility of the event organizers. But is that enough? Should venue providers be absolved of all accountability when hosting large public events? Who ensures that safety measures are adequately in place?

The Bigger Picture: Is Nagpur Becoming a Hub for Illegal Events?

This latest incident is not an isolated case—it is part of a worrying trend. Nagpur has witnessed a surge in unauthorized events, raising critical questions:

  • Were proper permissions secured? Reports indicate that many event organizers operate in a legal grey zone, sidestepping mandatory police and civic clearances.
  • Where was the police oversight? Why wasn’t there routine monitoring of an event this large? Could proactive law enforcement have prevented the escalation?
  • Why do organizers continue to flout regulations? The growing disregard for rules signals a failure of administrative enforcement. Are organizers emboldened by weak penalties and lax oversight?

Urgent Need for Stricter Regulations and Accountability

This chaos at Hotel FLD highlights an immediate need for stricter event regulations in Nagpur. Authorities must:

  1. Mandate stricter approval processes – No event should proceed without clearance from the police, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), and the fire department.
  2. Strengthen police surveillance – Routine checks must be enforced at large-scale gatherings to prevent illegal operations.
  3. Hold organizers accountable – Those who fail to manage crowds and ensure security must face severe penalties.
  4. Implement a public reporting system – Citizens should be able to report unauthorized events, prompting immediate action from authorities.

The Future of Public Events in Nagpur: Reform or More Disasters?

Nagpurians are left asking: If authorities remain passive, how many more such incidents will occur before a tragedy unfolds? Public celebrations should not become battlegrounds of mismanagement and lawlessness.

The FLD Holi debacle is a wake-up call. Will Nagpur’s administration finally act to rein in its event chaos, or will citizens continue to pay the price for negligence and inaction?

Nagpur: Police in Nagpur have registered a case against several office-bearers of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal for allegedly hurting religious sentiments during a recent protest. The demonstration, which called for the removal of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb’s tomb, has sparked legal action, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

According to authorities, the First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at Ganeshpeth police station against Govind Shende, VHP’s secretary in charge of Maharashtra and Goa, along with other members of the organizations. The accused include Amol Thakre, Dr. Mahajan, Tayani, Rajat Puri, Sushil, Vrushabh Arkhel, Shubham, and Mukesh Barapatre.

The police have invoked provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in response to the protest, which was reportedly aimed at demanding the removal of the historic tomb. The agitation comes amid rising tensions over historical and religious monuments in India, often leading to conflicts between various community groups.

Law enforcement officials stated that further investigation is underway to determine the extent of the alleged offense. Authorities have urged the public to maintain peace and refrain from actions that could incite communal disharmony.

The controversy over Aurangzeb’s legacy has been a long-standing issue in India, with right-wing groups frequently targeting historical figures associated with the Mughal empire. The latest protest in Nagpur is part of a broader ideological movement that seeks to challenge the historical narrative surrounding Mughal rule in the country.

Officials have assured that law and order will be maintained while due legal process is followed. More updates on the case are expected as the investigation progresses.
