Is Maharashtra Police Shielding Those Who Helped Fugitive Prashant Koratkar?

Nagpur: After a case was registered against self-proclaimed journalist Prashant Koratkar for making objectionable remarks about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, he fled from Nagpur fearing arrest. Now, five individuals accused of aiding his escape have been served notices by Kolhapur police, and their possible arrest is under consideration.

Among them, Prashik Padwekar, a close aide of Koratkar, is under serious scrutiny. According to reports, Padwekar considers Kortkar his “guru” and was present with him when he was arrested. However, questions are now being raised about police action and political interference in handling this case.

Police’s Role Under Question

Congress spokesperson Atul Londhe has strongly criticized the handling of the case, stating:

“Prashik Padwekar is a known associate of anti-Shivaji elements like Prashant Koratkar. When Padwekar visits Hudkeshwar Police Station in Nagpur, instead of questioning him about how he helped Kortkar escape, the police accept his complaint against Shivaji followers like us. This is a tragedy for Maharashtra.”

Londhe further alleged that after he questioned Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis regarding this matter, BJP leaders retaliated by filing cases against him across different locations.

“This exposes their arrogance and misuse of power. We have solid proof, including photos, linking Padwekar to Kortkar and other key individuals. We will soon present this before the people of Maharashtra,” he added.

How Did Koratkar Manage to Escape?

Investigations have revealed that Padwekar and other associates helped Koratkar hide in Chandrapur, provided him with financial support, and arranged a vehicle for his escape to Telangana. Kolhapur police have now summoned the accused for questioning.

Adding to the controversy, reports suggest that a senior police officer was also involved in assisting Koratkar during his stay at a Chandrapur hotel. It is alleged that this officer ensured Kortkar’s safe passage, raising serious concerns about police impartiality and political influence.

Luxury Cars Seized, But Bigger Questions Remain

In connection with the case, Kolhapur police have seized Kortkar’s luxury car and another vehicle belonging to his associate Dheeraj Chaudhary. However, the key question remains—how did Koratkar manage to escape so easily, and who in the administration supported him?

This case highlights not just a criminal’s escape but also the functioning of Maharashtra’s law enforcement agencies. Why is the police department seen taking action against those questioning Kortkar’s supporters instead of focusing on those who helped him flee?

With mounting political pressure and public outrage, will Maharashtra Police act fairly, or will this case be buried under political influence?

Nagpur: A violent clash erupted between two groups at Baba Deep Singh Nagar Gurudwara in Nagpur’s Kapil Nagar area on Monday at around 10 AM. The altercation involved swords, iron rods, and sticks, leaving 5-6 people seriously injured.

Power Struggle Behind the Violence

According to sources, the fight broke out when a group of 6-7 men, led by Gurvinder Singh, allegedly started hurling abuses at Sukharaj Singh. Sukharaj had been vocal against alleged corruption within the Gurudwara committee for the past few years, which led to tensions escalating.

Gurvinder Singh, also known as Gullu Dhillon, has reportedly controlled the Baba Deep Singh Nagar Gurudwara Committee for the past 12-13 years. Sukharaj Singh claims that Gurvinder and his associates have been using threats and intimidation to maintain their dominance over the committee. This, he alleges, has resulted in many devotees avoiding the Gurudwara. When Sukharaj raised his voice against the alleged corruption, the dispute took a violent turn, culminating in the brutal fight.

Police Begin Investigation

Sukharaj Singh, who sustained serious injuries in the attack, has filed a complaint at Kapil Nagar Police Station and also informed Police Commissioner Ravindra Singhal about the entire incident. Authorities have launched an investigation, and several individuals have been taken into custody.

Sources suggest that if the issue is not addressed, the ongoing dispute could escalate into a major gang war in the future. In light of this, the police are conducting further inquiries. The next steps in the investigation are now awaited.

Nagpur: In a shocking incident that has left the city in disbelief, a car driver who had initially promised to take an injured motorcyclist to the hospital instead abandoned him under a flyover, leading to the victim’s tragic death due to excessive bleeding.

The deceased, identified as Krishna Bulse, a resident of Ayodhya Nagar, Hudkeshwar, succumbed to his injuries after being left untreated for hours. The police discovered his body around 5:30 AM and have since launched an investigation into the matter.

Accident on National Cancer Institute Road

According to reports, Krishna Bulse and his coworker, Rupesh Walke, both construction workers, were returning home on a motorcycle from a work site in Gumgaon on Monday night. As they were passing by the National Cancer Institute, a white car hit their bike from behind, causing both riders to be thrown onto the road. Krishna suffered a severe head injury due to the impact.

Several workers from a nearby gas pipeline construction site gathered at the scene. Sensing the growing crowd, the car driver stopped instead of fleeing. He offered to take Krishna to the hospital, and both Rupesh and the bystanders trusted his word, assuming he would prioritize medical help.

Cruel Betrayal: Injured Man Thrown Under Flyover

Krishna, in excruciating pain, cried out for help as he was placed in the car. However, fear of legal consequences gripped the driver, and instead of heading to the hospital, he drove towards the Chinch Bhavan Flyover. In a shocking act of inhumanity, the driver stopped under the flyover, dragged the critically injured Krishna out of the vehicle, and abandoned him in the darkness before speeding away.

Throughout the night, Krishna lay there, bleeding profusely. By the time help arrived in the morning, he had succumbed to his injuries due to excessive blood loss.

Police Investigation Underway

When Rupesh Walke failed to receive any updates about Krishna’s treatment, he informed Krishna’s wife and alerted the police. Officers from Beltarodi, Hudkeshwar, and Hingna police stations initiated a search, only to discover that Krishna was not admitted to any nearby hospitals, including Mayo and Government Medical College.

A frantic search led to the discovery of Krishna’s lifeless body under the Chinch Bhavan Flyover at around 3:30 AM. By then, the car driver had fled the scene.

The Hingna Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt for the absconding driver. Further investigations are underway.

This heart-wrenching incident has raised concerns about road safety and accountability, highlighting the urgent need for stringent measures against hit-and-run cases. Authorities are urging witnesses to come forward with any information that could help bring the accused to justice.

Nagpur: SADAR Police have arrested Ulhas Narad, Deputy Director of Education (DDE) from Gadchiroli, and Parag Nanaji Pudke, a school principal, late Friday night in connection with a bogus Shalarth ID scam. Narad is accused of approving a fake teacher identification number using forged documents, enabling an ineligible person to draw a government salary and secure a promotion.

The two were produced in court and have been remanded to police custody until April 14.

Accused Details:

  • Ulhas Kawaduji Narad (54): Resident of Flat No. 101, Kamdhenu Apartment, Manewada Road, Hudkeshwar.
  • Parag Nanaji Pudke (33): Resident of Jevatala village, Lakhni, District Bhandara.
